chelating questions

Hello, I posted awhile ago regarding our son's regression after 4

rounds of TD-DMSA. Although there were regressions (very hyper,

very stimmy), there were also some improvements, very nice

improvements actually. We modified our chelation protocol with our

DAN, added more minerals which helped, added more probiotics (I think

it helped)...added Candex, and switched pharmacies.

So, now we did our first round with td-dmsa from lee silsby last

weekend, so this weekend we are " off " . I have to say, that this has

been the hardest week of this whole process. There have been almost

no improvements (one nice improvement wednesday night) and all

negatives.

This, however, is different that what we saw the first time around,

and I am somewhat afraid. Our son is definitely MORE autistic now

than he has ever been....even before biomed started a year ago. VERY

spacey, he is on plante pluto. Non responsive, waving toys in front

of his eyes, very very withdrawn, weird! Just weird!

Please tell me that some kid regress a little before they improve,

and that we are NOT hurting our son or making him worse. Please tell

me that this is typical, they are moving metals around. Please tell

me that we should keep going...

I remember reading a post from a dad whose kid recovered on dmsa/ala

some time ago. He recalled that the first 4-5 rounds scared the

shit out of him. He stated that his son was more autistic than

ever, but that he also saw some developmental gains...so they stuck

with it, and now...his son is completely recovered, making friends in

1st grade, doing great. Now, this dad did ALA with the DMSA right

from the start, maybe we should be adding in the ala?

I know that i cant stop chelating...if we are ever going to get close

to recovery, chelation is key...but this is tough. How is it that

other kids make remarkable progress after ONLY one round...and ours

is a wreck? Actually, I think I am the wreck..he is on another

planet talking to himself.

Sorry, please let me know your thoughts....Kim

Hi Kim,

My son also went thru some nasty regressions early on in chelation

(we are still pretty early on..but hopefully past this regression

phase) To me serious regressions, ours was behavioural,

aggression..screamy, means something needs to be changed. I have

given him round breaks to ensure his minerals and yeast were under

control. I have lowered the doseage to the 1/8th amount and kept it

there. My son is high copper and very low zinc so this makes

chelation even more difficult. The copper stays, the zinc depletes

no matter how diligently it seems, that I supplement. For us these

changes have helped a lot. I do have to give him atleast 11 days

off, and really, really deal with yeast. (I thought I was dealing

with the yeast and mineral issues, but it was not enuf.) I had to get

another hair analysis done to see where his minerals were at ( this

was after nine rounds) and it was clear that he needed more zinc, and

a break from chelation. I give him different yeast killers and

rotate them, every four days. Sometimes I really have to increase

the doseages. I also give a very good probiotic, two times every

day. I learned that when they said that yeast happens with chelation

and that you really have to watch, supp the minerals, they weren't

kidding!!

Sometimes taking a little break has helped relieve the regressive

behaviours and I have been able to see some of the benefits of

chelation.

Good luck to you and your family,

Stacey

  • 9 months later...

The green bm's are due to the chelators which make the bm's a little looser.

Green bm's happen when food doesn't sit in the intestine very long and not a lot

of bile gets deposited, and is not a cause for worry.

Some people have said that dmsa is an antiretroviral and it's interesting to me

that it causes some kids to get warmer when they are using it. It's possible.

[ ] chelating questions

Ok, my son is on his first round of chelation. Today's bm was brown,

then followed by green. He hasn't injested anything abnormally green

lately so I'm guessing this is related to the chelation. Is it a sign

that something is wrong or that something is right? Or does it mean

anything at all. That's just not a color I'm used to seeing in him

and he even called me in to look b/c he thought it was so wierd.

Also, can chelating bring out viral issues? He has been sneezing and

having watery eyes alot today. I know he could have just caught

something or other, but was curious if chelating might have caused it

too.

Thank you!

Thanks for your reply. I'm curious... what would cause the liver to

flush all at once like that (since it wasn't chelating in your ds

case)?

Thank you so much. I will look into taurine supplementation.

Thanks for your reply . Excuse my ignorance please, but

which part of the body makes bile? Also, I thought we didnt' want

the food to sit in the intestines. Or is it just that it doesn't

stay there long enough?

I knew I should have paid better attention in school. LOL

Bile is composed of a combination of substances produced in the pancreas

and the liver, then stored in the gall bladder, if one is present. Jim
