Guest guest
I have real bad RA , Fibro and Chronic fatigue, and was literally at deaths door at first. I got on prednisone til it gave me catarracts, weight gain, femoral head ischemic necrosis and worsened my hypertention over several years. Worse than that I needed to slowly increase the dose to get the same effect til I was taking 20mg/day. As a doc I knew this would kill me over time and I had to get off somehow. Initially I was told that I couldnt take Enbrel or similar TNF meds and prednisone at the same time, but subsequently learned that was not true. Initially I was frightened by TNF meds as I was aware of one person who died while on them (from pneumonia). I could in no way have gotten off prednisone without TNF meds as I would crash if I was more than 3 hr late with my prednisone dose. Prednisone will kill you over time and should be used only initially in my opinion even though a fair amount of rheumatologists still use it. Do not waste your time with it as a long term solution except as a last resort. The LDN has helped especially with perception of decreased pain and increased energy and lessened depression as a result which is a major component of RA and similar diease processes. Feel free to email me for my experiences. I have some personal research strategies that seem to help in specific circumstances regarding MTX and SSRA's ... Fussy? Opinionated? Impossible to please?
