Guest guest
Hi Listmates We're on round two this weekend. Last week we started with DMSA, 8.3 mg for a 45-50 lb boy, every 4 hours. This weekend we added in the same amount of ALA and moved up to every three hours around the clock. Things have been quite lovely. Everything has been easier than I thought it would be: night dosing, dividing capsules, treating for yeast. (Thanks to Mandi for the great tip of adding Candex and/or S. Boulardii to the night doses!) Our boy has been calm, happy, and very cuddly. The only hints of trouble were a tiny, garden-variety nosebleed last week, not the gushers we're used to (probably due to a wayward finger, not chelation) and yesterday just after his first dose of DMSA/ALA, our son clapped his hands over his ears and grimaced, but it was over in a second and hasn't happened since. I feel it's too early to attribute anything new to chelation, but it's clear that the kid does very well on these chelators (at this dose/frequency). Last Sunday my duaghter had a friend over. Although the son was happy enough to have extra company (not screaming, etc) he also didn't interact, very normal behaviour for him. BUT when the girl's dad came to pick her up, our son herded her and our daughter together for a group hug!! Completely unprecendeted behaviour. This is not a hugely exciting report, but maybe it's good to say that chelation doesn't have to be a scary free-fall, either. This feels very right. thanks for getting us on our way, finally René
