One example is that if you have an " upregulation " in the CBS gene

(specifically, a C699T mutation or to a lesser degree, a C1080T/A360A

mutation), you will normally have a 40-fold increase in the rate of

conversion from homocysteine to either taurine or glutathione in your

body. As a consequence, your body cannot keep up in conversion from

(toxic) sulfite to sulfate, and ends up creating A LOT of ammonia. As

well, this drains several intermediate compounds involved in the

metionine pathway - and thus, the ability for the body to adequately

methylate DNA. (She explains this in the following post: http://

________

Tor,

How do you compensate for high taurine? My son's AA test shows low ammonia

but high taurine. We're already using Yucca and low-protein diet. We tried

the RNA ammonia drops but I don't think that was helping the elevated taurine.

I've asked this question on her forum but can't get an answer as to what else

I can do to lower taurine. It's hard for me to understand all the information

but you seem to be doing a great job of taking it all in. Can you give us

the highlights of what was covered at her latest conference?

Thanks,

Sharon
