Propranolol has anti-anxiety effects. It is often used by people without any medical problems but who get physically panicky (sweats, shaking, et cetera) when doing things like public musical performances or giving talks to an audience. Interesting, I hadn't heard that about propranolol. Although I have PD it was originally diagnosed as

essential tremors and depression/anxiety, and my new doctor prescribed Propranolol for the shakes and Effexor for the anxiety/depression. I don't think he knew that propranolol was anti-anxiety also. After a year's wait I got an appointment with a movement disorder specialist who diagnosed PD. I was given Amanadine for stiffness (starting to shuffle feet) and for the last 6 months Mirapex. The leg stiffness went away and the shakes eased up and I felt more comfortable. But the thing I noticed most was I wasn't as depressed. I could now read longer than a few minutes and stay on the computer much longer. I later read of Mirapex's anti-depressant qualities. I decided to get off the propranolol and the Effexor, and feel much better. Originally it took me the longest time to adjust to the propranolol, I

felt like sh*t. I have an appointment with the specialists in September and I will ask for LDN. If it works for me and halts the progression I will be very pleased to just take Mirapex and LDN!TTYL...... Jim
