Guest guest
meant to post this earlier but been crazy busy. It was a bit chaotic as as well as doctors talking and showing slides, there were people doing a 150 bike ride and they were all registering. Very noisy and very cold - in a huge tent on the coldest night of the year so far! There were some neuro`s from UCSF there (including `s doctor) and a representative from the MS society. NOthing much new but we did get a chance to ask a question about how the LDN trial at UCSF went. The main doctor was not there but they are hoping to publish the results soon. did go and have a private chat with the MS society guy and asked him if they have or were planning to put any money into LDN research and he said yes but was not specific in any way. There was some talk about genetics - some talk of some new eye testing (which has had done) which shows the back of the eye and shows damage to the optial nerve etc. Most of it way above my head I`m afraid. I didnt hear Tysabri mentioned once! A person asked about diet and MS and all of the doctors were fairly dismisive which was very sad. They said that they know lots of people follow certain " MS " diets but there is no proof that any of them help, according to them. Sad they they dont promote healthy eating generally and at least say that avoiding loads of saturated animal fats etc is bad. There was talk of people with MS having vit D deficiency sometimes but there was no clear knowledge of how much would be the correct amount anyway! It`s a real shame that no trials ever seems to get done regarding nutrition/diet and MS. So, thats all.....the pasta dinner was OK but thats highly irrelevant! Sorry to all the non MS folks but I wanted to report back as much as I knew, which wasnt a whole lot! Bev
