UK vaccs still had the Mercury in them at this time :( You can double check the batch numbers if you get them from your GP, I forget where but could probably find out for you.

As far as I am aware, you STILL have to ask for Mercury free ones, there was a short while without the HG but DoH thought Hg ones were better and reinstated it.

I think the Geiers ar emistaken when they keep saying its gone from here, that was oinly the press stuff about the 5 in one which of cours has to be Hg free like the MMR or it would die as its live viruses

Hello, I am reading this book and having problems translating some of it to the UK. Tom is very toxic - metal wise - but I simply don't know whether his vaccinations (his last was in December 2000) could legally then have contained thimerosal. I thought it was illegal from 1998 (the year he was born) but now I am not so sure.

Yes the DTPHib which it was standard practice to give at 8, 12 and 16 weeks to babies contained 50mcg of thiomersal per dose (that's 25mcg of mercury per dose) until a new vaccine was brought in in November 2004. The old vaccine also contained whole cells of pertussis.

Your child will only have escaped thiomersal if he was either not vaccinated, or if the acellular DTPHib was ordered in on a named patient basis (you'd know already if this was the case!). Moreover, if any of the vaccines were split, for example, separate tetanus and Hib shots given (as happened with the third shots given to my son) then each of those may have contained 50mcg of thiomersal, thus doubling the "normal" exposure. Polio, Meningitis C and the MMR have never had thiomersal as an ingredient.

PS so most UK children will have had 3 x 25mcg doses of mercury in the first year, totalling 75mcg, from vaccines.

Thanks for this. So this means that our rates of mercury exposure

are less than in the US but still about 60-80 x the US " recommended

as safe " dose. Tom had his last vaccination in December 2000 and I

can't now remember what it was - will have to check with his GP. If

that one was a hib booster then it might explain why that was soon

before his regression. He also had separate Hib and tetanus but

showed absolutely no autistic signs in the first 2 years of his

life. So presumably it was the last shot added to the previous

shots that tipped the balance. I thought we stopped using

thimerosal in 2000 - is that not the case? I had no idea that Hib

still contained it in 2004, that's wild.

Sorry if this sounds very very basic but I don't think I'd

acknowledged the degree of exposure - and our other child has never

had MMR but had everything else and is mildly ASD. NOt sure what to

do with his vaccination schedule - we're being asked to give him MMR

before he starts school proper in Septembr. Single doses? Do we

really care about Mumps anyway? Help!

I have a pdf put out by the gov at the start of 04 basically telling us

which vacs contained thimerosal and which didn't and trying to say it

wasn't a problem.

I just gave everyone I knew it and told them to ask for the thimerosal

free ones specifically. It didn't stay around on the nhs website for

long so I think they had second thoughts about publicising it too much.

I'll try to upload it to the files and call it 'UK nhs vacs - 2004.pdf'

I did ask in Waterstones and they said they couldn't stock it until it was published in UK and that Amazon could sell it because thet were essentailly an American company.

They told me to try Borders as I wanted a place to send IT illiterate people to buy it. Haven't been to Borders as its a pain to park.

I'm read the book now and it is such a good but yet sad book! I sat

there reading it with my mouth open. lol It makes me cry to read the

stories of the children...close to the heart to so many of us. Right

before our eyes, our children just slipped away! :( Has any one else

read the book?
