Not sure what to do. Son finished 3rd round of DMSA yesterday

Sacc. boulardii. Would it be yeast or mercury moving around in the

better with longer rounds? Regardless of your protocol there is some

redistribution at the end of a round. I don't rate Probio gold, w use

CustomProbiotics.com CP1 with good effect. Adding Candex type enzyme to night

doses is helful

in fighting the yeast.

He may be being helped by the sulphur thats is DMSA andmisses it after the

round has ended

This is interesting, I just spent most of the day trying to figure out if the

improvement we saw when recently adding dmsa was increased sulfur or metal

excretion.

I found a post from Andy that said " dmsa lowers thiols, ala raises thiols " We

had 10 previous rounds with Ala with nothing, no side effects, no improvements.

So, improvement with dmsa is not due to increased sulfur/thiols?

The dose of DMSA is too high.

If you are dosing every 8 h, then need to switch to every 4 h.

I've experienced this myself. I am fine while I take the chelators

and have side effects when I stop. I think that the improvements

while taking the chelators have to do with the chelator binding

metals. I think that this has been demonstrated to be true because as

I continue to chelate the side effects are less at the end of rounds

at doses that I previously could not tolerate. This tells me that

metals have moved out.

What dose and dosing schedule of DMSA are you using. What you're seeing may be

from redistribution if you using too high or too frequent a dose.

I remember Andy saying that if the side effects from chelation are too

great then lower the dose. 25 mg DMSA was too much for me. I am much

larger than your son. 18 mg gave manageable side effects for me.

12.5 mg gave no side effects. Everyone is different in the quantity

of chelator they can take at the start of chelation.

Maybe your child's improvements come from DMSA also addressing other

metals, some that ALA don't address. Although after just one round it

is not very likely..

The way I understand this " thiols " thing, and I could be completely

wrong, is that DMSA is high sulfur like ALA, but to be excreted it

needs thiols, which ALA does not need. So you end up lowering the

thiols.

Did you do DMSA and ALA, or just DMSA? In my family, chelating with ALA

only produces more side effects than chelating with DMSA and ALA.

Would the behavior be considered a side effect if it occurs when he is

off round? This is all so new to me, I'm having a little trouble

putting it altogether.

Yes. I am chelating myself. I am fine while taking the chelators. I

get side effects when I stop.
