Hi Jen,

I am pretty sure you have to go through a doctor to order a hair

test directly from Doctor's Data.

When you call Direct Labs be sure to mention the " autism group " to

get a discount!

Hi Jen,

Please read the beginning of this page, it will explain it:

http://home.earthlink.net/~moriam/HOW_TO_hair_test.html

The prices through DLS have gone up--- it is now $93.

You get a discounted price of $79 if you say that you

were referred to DLS by either the list

or " Moria's hair test page " .

good wishes,

Moria

Doctor's Data runs the hair tests. They will do this through your localized

doctor if the practice will sign off (reasonable ones will) . Make sure you get

them to provide you with the DDI " hair elements " and not the DDI " toxic

elements " test kit.

If your doctor will not sign off with DDI you can still get the hair test

service through Direct Lab Services.

This link to Moria's web site should provide you with the details:

===>Most doctors don't know how to read a hair test properly.

I am also confused about how to read the test results. Some say the high

metal/mercury level means you got a lot of metals in body, others say it is a

good thing, means your body is able to excrete the metal instead of holding it.

====>If the level of metal is high enough that means that the person is toxic.

If the level of mercury is low it could mean that the person is still toxic but

retaining mercury.

====>If the hair test meets Andy's " counting rules " then mercury toxicity is

most likely. It is still possible to be mercury toxic and have a test that

doesn't meet the counting rules if there is more mercury in the brain,

contributing to the health problems, than in the body.

I am questioning how useful the hair test would be, especially the child

doesn't have obvious exposure to heavy metals in the past.

====>Sometimes the exposures to metals are not obvious. Anyone who has had

vaccines has had exposures. Sometimes the exposures were through water or other

sources.

====>There are many things on the hair test that help to make treatment

decisions. Some times the results of hair tests are not clear. In that case a

trial of chelation can be used to determine if the person is toxic.

====>There is so much information in hair tests that a whole book has been

written about it. This book is one resource that people who are chelating

really need:

www.noamalgam.com/hairtestbook.html

along with Andy's " Amalgam Illness " book

www.noamalgam.com

They are inexpensive when ordered from Andy.

Can anyone shed some light on this? thanks

Consider getting a copy of Andy Cutler's book " Hair Test Interpreting " . He

developed counting rules for the DDI Hair Elements test. Also check the FAQs of

this list. Mercury behaves differently than other toxic metals, hence the

counting rules.
