Guest guest
I know of some people that have their child on Concerta & Prozac with Nordic Naturals Omega 3-6-9 and he actually feels better. He is going to go off both of them over the summer and try the natural approach. 5-HTP would be the equivalent of the SSRI (cannot be taken with one!) and for his ADHD-Omega 3's, GABA, Lecithin and possibly natural lithium. Guest guest
I can only speak from personal experience taking prozac and other SSR's as a mercury toxic adult...I felt better on the Omega's. With or without the meds. They do help. > > I know of some people that have their child on Concerta & Prozac with Nordic > Naturals Omega 3-6-9 and he actually feels better. Guest guest
Zoloft made me OCD, read an article many years ago about that happening to another woman. Guest guest
I took high dose EPA (1.5 grams daily) for 6 months while taking Effexor. After that 6 months, I weaned myself off of Effexor (horrendous experience) and now feel better OFF of anti-depressants than I ever felt ON them. I had a 16 year history on several tricyclics and SSRIs. Depression, anxiety, eating disorders, trouble falling asleep, inability to concentrate... Forgot to mention, I continue to take between 1-2 grams of EPA daily (also getting about 700 mgs DHA and other EFAs). It has been nearly two years since I stopped Effexor. I've never gone that long without an antidepressant since first taking them in 1988. Never slept better, either. You need to use much more EFAs than what it says to use on the bottle... especially those chewables. Those piddly little doses of 90-250 mgs EPA/DHA aren't going to help much, in my opinion. I quadruple that dose with my 5 year old. Of course, I must add the disclaimer that there are people out there that cannot tolerate EFAs. For me? They were a lifesaver; literally. Guest guest
Thanks for the replies everyone. I saw over the weekend that Wal- Mart carries Efamol products http://www.efalex.co.uk/fset.asp?pid=1 which seem to have a pretty good ratio of the fats. It says no gluten, no corn , no soy. But it doesn't say no mercury or mercury tested. Anyone try these? Thoughts? They are quite a bit cheaper than Nordic Naturals and I don't have to order online. > > > > > > I know of some people that have their child on Concerta & Prozac > > with Nordic > > > Naturals Omega 3-6-9 and he actually feels better. Guest guest
For depression and Bipolar Disorders, at least, the amount of EPA seems to be more important than the DHA. From looking at this product's link, their focus is on providing DHA. I'm biased toward Nordic Naturals, but I think you can find a better product than Efalex. No mercury-free guarantee is a bigee for me. I can buy the appropriate Nordic Naturals at The Vitamin Shoppe and Whole Foods (I think Whole Foods). Do you have any health food stores near by? I do not avoid soy in these products and I know it can be a difficult task. You might want to look at some research by Dr. Stoll (Harvard) regarding EPA and other EFAs. http://www.epa1.co.uk/ This above person is marketing a particular product, but the info is interesting. http://www.mcmanweb.com/article-15.htm Pam > > > > > > > > I know of some people that have their child on Concerta & > Prozac > > > with Nordic > > > > Naturals Omega 3-6-9 and he actually feels better. Guest guest
I have to agree with Pam, I personally would not use any other fish oil other than Nordic Naturals. Not only mercury do you need to be concerned about but other PCB's. A friend of mine had her son on Omega 3's from a product purchased at Walmart. I told her that I believe that she should give her son the NN Omega Complete (3-6-9). She did change after our talk and within a month her son (17 with add/depression) reported to her that he felt better with the NN products. That testament to me meant a lot here since my son really doesn't express how he is feeling when it comes to the supplements I am giving him. Guest guest
Is it organic? You do not want EFA's from grown from flax sprayed with pesticides, or fish from who knows where. You contact the company for the information to be sure it is the product you want to use. I do know that Barlean's makes and EFA oil that is organic, and cold pressed and not to expensive. There are many others I am sure. Try the vitamin shoppe online. > > > > > > > > I know of some people that have their child on Concerta & > Prozac > > > with Nordic > > > > Naturals Omega 3-6-9 and he actually feels better.
