Guest guest
Why do they sell calcium, magnesium and zinc together if you are suppose to take calcium away from other vitamins and minerals due to absorption problems?

Why bother taking three pills if they can down one? For some who do not have the discipline to take the supplements correctly, some mixed together is better than none. Guest guest
Well Jan, that would make sense (people are lazy). I don't know about you but it's hard on someone with my fuzzy brain to figure out how to take my thyroid meds, colon cleansing program, probiotics, fiber, enzymes, yeast cleanses, systemic enzyme - virastop, and all the fat soluable and water soluable vitamins and minerals (plus my milk thistle and green tea supplement). Lazy has nothing to do with it - I'm suppose to take some one hour before I eat or 2 hours after, this one once a day but seperate from everything else, cleanses twice a day, 2 of these everytime I eat. Some are in the fridge upstairs, some by my bedside (so I don't forget night- time doses) and some in my office so I can take them a few times a day. And some in my purse so I have them if I eat out. Eiyiyi-yi-yi! It's enough to drive a person nuts. And I haven't even started the chelation yet - nor is my memory very sharp. But onward I press! > > > > Why do they sell calcium, magnesium and zinc together if you are > > suppose to take calcium away from other vitamins and minerals due to > > absorption problems? > > > People are lazy. Guest guest
That is the other reason!! I hear you... I have brain fog really bad. The past year it has gotten worse. I have lists written down and tapped to the cabinets. Which kid gets which supplement and when! Not to mention my own, which I often forget until I start getting those morbid thoughts and then I remember...hey, I forgot to take my pills. But for the general public...the combo pill is for people who do not know that calcium should be taken separately, or don't care, or find one pill easy. Better poorly absorbed calcium that none I guess! > > Well Jan, that would make sense (people are lazy). > > I don't know about you but it's hard on someone with my fuzzy brain to > figure out how to take my thyroid meds, colon cleansing program, > probiotics, fiber, enzymes, yeast cleanses, systemic enzyme - virastop, > and all the fat soluable and water soluable vitamins and minerals (plus > my milk thistle and green tea supplement). > > Lazy has nothing to do with it - I'm suppose to take some one hour > before I eat or 2 hours after, this one once a day but seperate from > everything else, cleanses twice a day, 2 of these everytime I eat. Guest guest
Good points Jan! You know - I also think people are not educated. I hear a lot of controvery about it and am just now reading up on why it's best to take them seperate. I got two bottles of each for my bed time dresser. I also have virastop I have to take at night, thyriod meds, charcoal (to cleanse while sleeping) and my liver cleanse. So I can't do all of these every night - I try to leave one hour between them, but I do hit 3/4 of them a night. I try to do the charcoal last so that other stuff has a chance to absort. I'm always so paranoid the charcoal will take out the good stuff I've painstakingly tried to space out in appropriate times. Correct supplementing is tough. I just read some indepth research from Kirkman's labs and they suggest that the probiotics are actually better absorbed taken with food! This will help me a lot since I take enzymes then too and my multi with food once a day. I do the other water soluable supplements a few times a day and the fat sol. once (just some E). I think a lot of people try to take their pro-biotics seperately too which is hard since mine are in the fridge. I generally remember then once I have to get something to eat. > > That is the other reason!! I hear you... I have brain fog really > bad. The past year it has gotten worse. Guest guest
Hi , I'm eager to see how my DDI test goes in about 6 months after supplementing seperately and chelating. My calcium, Mag and Zinc were low so it will be interesting to see how they do after changing this. I've also added an adrenal supplement the last week and I seem to be feeling a little better - just less exhausted somehow deep inside. Wish I'd have known that a little sooner. I never knew that they weren't suppose to be taken together either since they are sold together. Presumably, thought I, they help each other with absorption. Apparently not. > > > > > > Well Jan, that would make sense (people are lazy). > > > > > > I don't know about you but it's hard on someone with my fuzzy > > brain to > > > figure out how to take my thyroid meds, colon cleansing program, > > > probiotics, fiber, enzymes, yeast cleanses, systemic enzyme - > > virastop, > > > and all the fat soluable and water soluable vitamins and minerals > > (plus > > > my milk thistle and green tea supplement). > > > > > > Lazy has nothing to do with it - I'm suppose to take some one > hour > > > before I eat or 2 hours after, this one once a day but seperate > > from > > > everything else, cleanses twice a day, 2 of these everytime I > eat. > > Some > > > are in the fridge upstairs, some by my bedside (so I don't forget > > night- > > > time doses) and some in my office so I can take them a few times > a > > day. > > > And some in my purse so I have them if I eat out. Guest guest
Take comfort that you can have them in places to remind yourself. I have to lock everything in the cabinet. Except the probiotics which are in the butter door in the fridge (my son never goes in there). Thus the lists taped where I can see them. It is mid boggling though. I cannot wait to get my filling out in May. My brain fog has been really bad lately. Even the usual stuff isn't helping. Keep reading..and sharing infor. I will do the same. And we can all help each other. Map out a schedule on paper... Breakfast: list supplements Mid Am: list supplements Lunch: etc. Mid PM:etc Dinner:etc Before Bed:etc. This has helped me a bit. I just check the list everytime I have to prep a meal or snack as this is the schedule my kids eat on anyway. Hang in there!! Guest guest
I am sure your doctor meant well. Probably figured it would be easier to give them at the same time. But let us know if you find out that this interfers with zinc absorption. --- In , Selavka <stacylynncollins@...> wrote: > > My doctor is having my son take zinc, calcium and mag - the calcium is not with the calcium or mag, but she never told me not to take them together. Now I'm concerned. My son's copper is high and perhaps that is because zinc is not being absorbed by the mag and calcium. I'll have to look into this. > > yur_a_daisy <RoseGvr@...> wrote: > Good points Jan! You know - I also think people are not educated. Guest guest
Could he be getting exposed to extra copper somewhere? Tap water with copper plumbing can be a source.
