I don't know if this will be of any help, but I know my now deceased

family doctor who gave me childhood vaccines files are stored in some

storage facility. He sold his practice in the early 80's, when I

contacted the doctor that bought his practice the secretary told me,

now this was a few years ago, but definitely 15 years after he sold

practice, they would be obtainable if I wanted to get them. Did any

doctor buy his practice? If they did, perhaps it can be traced that

way. My last visit to that doctor that bought his practice was in

1983, and I was inquiring in 1998 or there abouts about previous

vaccinations I had received.

This is just my opinion...but I would think they would have just given you a

single dose of everything. I also don't think they would give you multiple

doses at one sitting. Again, I am guessing but I know at one time little kids

would get two flu shots each season, not one. That was to break up the

origional dose in more manageable doses. Would the same be for the other vacs

as well? If there was some truth there then you really should have only gotten

one dose of something in the strength your age would permit.

There is a catch up schedule available for kids. I have seen it but am not sure

where to find it. CDC or AAP would likely have it. I would think you would

remember getting additional shots in the future after your experience though.

What a hateful thing to say to a kid!!! I would find him and slap him! Talk

about the past coming to bite in the butt later! If it helps in the smallest

way, those shots in your bottom would have hurt just as much. I used to have to

go to the ER to get demerol shots for migraines and hated the shots just about

as much as the migraine. My bottom was sore for days! No fun trading a pain in

the neck for a pain in the...!

Good luck in your research.

Probably 1 Td, 1 MMR and 1 OPV. No reason to give more than one dose of

any immunization in one day. Back in two months for Td and OPV. Jim

Subject: [ ]? about repeating immunizations

Hi,

I'm trying to figure this out and was hoping someone could help:

born 1970

rec'd all scheduled immunizations including smallpox (although there is

no

mark/scar from it)

school lost records 1986, suspended and forced to revaccinate.

revaccinated in 1986, have no proof/record of the vaccinations given at

that

time.

The immunization schedule at that time was created in 1983 until 1989.

The schedule is as foolows:

2 mo=DPT1, OPV1

4 mo=DPT2,OPV2 (6 wk interval btw OPV doses to avoid interferences)

6 mo=DPT3 (an additional dose of OPV at this time is optional for use in

areas with high risk of polio exposure)

15 mo=MMR

18 mo=DTP4,OPV3 (Completion of primary series)

4-6 yr=DTP5,OPV4 (Preferably at or before school entry)

14-16 yr=Td (Repeat every 10 yrs throughout life)

So knowing this was the schedule at that time, what do you think a

doctor

would give to a 12 year old believed to have never been vaccinated? I

don't

think they gave 5 DTP's in one day, I don't think they gave 4 OPV's

either,

as a matter of fact, I don't remember drinking anything, I only remember

the

shots, the doc wanted me to pull my pants down and I begged him to put

them

all in my arms, he said " alright they're your arms, not mine " I'll never

forget that and how long they hurt to lift or even put a shirt or jacket

on

for what seemed like forever. I remember the doctor's name and where he

was

located but he is no longer there and I believe he is either dead or

retired.

The school said they 'burn' the records every 10 years.

I REALLY need to know this info and would appreciate any help.

I'm hoping to also find out who were the manufacturer's at that time so

I

could find out the ingredients, mercury, aluminum, etc.

Thanks,

Carol

Hey Jim, thanks! Do you think they just skipped the DPT? I am almost certain

it was more than 2 shots though I am not positive, I remember saying how

many more, maybe the polio was IPV.

Thanks for the idea. Back when I lived in that county, I did physically

drive down the street and only found the previous office which was

originally a home turned into a doctor's office was now returned to being

someone's home.

You gave me an idea though, I sent a letter to the county medical society,

maybe they can help?!

Thanks,

Carol
