Guest guest
I am taking the drug Keppra. I take 500 mg in morning and 1000 at night It works for awhile then all the sudden my levels drop to nothing right out of the clear blue. I can go for like 14 months and then have one ever 2 months for about 6 months and then go for 14 months free. That is without any dose change. we cant figure it out. I am 40 and going through the change. My neuro thinks that my chemistry is changing so much that it keeps my levels off balance.
Guest guest
Hi DeEtte, We tried it with Mallorie a little over a year ago and didn't find it helpful in any way. There was a mom whose son was helped by it that told me about it. tried it with Molly (on the keto list) but I don't think it helped her. I read several pubmed articles and it sounds great. I think the drug Keppra was made to model Piracetam but is much stronger. Sorry I'm not much help, let us know how does with it. Guest guest
Kathrine: I appreciate all your help. It is nice knowing what you take. My neurologist was involved in the making of Keppra.
Guest guest
Well, tell me if this sounds incorrect, but I'm actually getting this from a compounding pharmacy. From what I understand, it is the pure agent (Piracetam) in a suspension liquid. Does this make sense? It is not FDA approved in the U.S., but this doctor uses it because he's doing clinical trials.--D > D, > piracetam is the agent in 23 different brand names over here, some of them > generic drugs. > which would you like to know? Guest guest
Has anyone tried this for their kids--it's supposed to help blood flow across the corpus collosum and improve cognitive performace (some evidence it helps dyslexic population). Can anyone recommend a good source? Also, was choline suggested as necessary for the piracetam to work optimally? Thanks,
Guest guest
don't know about that but we used DMG and TMG to increase blood oxygenation and really liked it. It is an amino acid so is very safe. There was many articles on Kirkman Labs website years ago but not now on how it had been tested MANY times with children and that it was safe. They started using it with retarded children and got good results. We started that supplement first since they said it helped approx 85% of autistic kids. Guest guest
Hi , Yes, we've been using this for a few months now, but I honestly can't say for sure whether or not it's having any affect . . . doing too many things at the same time! We use the Unique Nutrition brand - not sure if they have a web site, but here's their phone # - 1-877-278-4942. I've read that choline is supposed to help the Piracetam work better, and we were already using it anyway when we started the Piracetam, so I've continued using it and giving them at the same time. Guest guest
We had a group of children and teenagers with Down syndrome who tried it for several months in the late 90's. No choline, though. None of the parents saw any real benefit they all eventually stopped using it. Guest guest
Beyond A Century offers piracetam as an inexpensive powder; here's the link: www.beyond-a-century.com Here's a link that references a synergistic effect if choline is taken with piracetam: http://www.ceri.com/noot.htm According to this article, this causes " greater improvement in memory than the sum of each when taken alone. " This is interesting, as I hadn't heard this before. Thanks for bringing it to my attention! :-) At 09:57 AM 1/10/2006 -0500, you wrote: >Has anyone tried this for their kids--it's supposed to help blood flow >across the corpus collosum and improve cognitive performace (some evidence >it >helps dyslexic population). > >Can anyone recommend a good source?
