Guest guest
Hi , There is a template to use for hair tests at the bottom of this page: http://home.earthlink.net/~moriam/HOW_TO_hair_test.html#how_to_post It's easier to interpret the test when ALL information is there (test result, reference range, color) That sounds like an enormous amount of DMSA that your dr has suggested. Check out : http://home.earthlink.net/~moriam/Andy_dose_sched.html and the files section in this group. It's not safe to skip the every 4 h dosing schedule at night. > > Hi all and thanks for any help you can offer in advance!! Guest guest
No, not a good idea to skip the night dose. We've been doing the night dose for a long time with no problems. Guest guest
No! Makes it highly likely that the toxic metals will just be redistributed rather than chelated out. That's also too high a dose unless the individual weighs 200-400 lbs. Please read the FAQs of this list and consider getting a different doc or doing chelation on your own without a doc (as many on this list do). Guest guest
, Maybe this has already been mentioned and I missed it, but this dose sounds very high. According to Andy (1/8-1/2 mg/per pound), to require a dose this large your child would need to weigh at least 200 pounds. Sorry if I'm repeating what's already been said. Guest guest
Hello , Okay, here are some comments on the hair test (finally). This test shows TOXIC COPPER LEVELS. This is serious. Symptoms of copper toxicity are a lot like mercury poisoning. Suggested actions to reduce the copper level are to give zinc 3 or 4 times a day (and possibly also a couple other supps that are more optional). Also limit high copper foods (nuts, organ meats, maybe something else I've forgotten?). Also check ALL supplements for copper--- some supps include it. (It is necessary but one can get too much.) Usually high copper will come down fairly fast -- like a few months I think. Should help a lot. Also, due to the high (red) hair copper you should use ALA either not at all or sparingly, until the copper is reduced. Counting rules: step 1: elements OVER -- I count 16 -- normal step 2: elements in red: 2 -- normal step 3: elements ending in white/green: 12 -- normal, but " close " . Caveat: I am VERY tired so it would probably be worth recounting to check my counting. If my counting is correct, the test shows normal mineral transport -- with one result (step 3) that is close to abnormal -- borderline. This is pretty inconclusive, to me. You might want to try some mercury chelation to see if it helps--- I probably would focus on the copper first, since it is clearly a problem. Maybe that is enough to focus on to begin with. Or you could try to do the mercury detox at the same time. But the copper is the more clear problem. I think I'd want to start with one thing (the copper) and then depending on how that goes see about doing more -- I'm not sure how to explain this exactly, I just can't focus on too much at once, plus would want some time to see any reactions, get used to changes, etc. Oh, and I agree with others' comments that the dose of DMSA suggested is VERY high, and that every 4 hours does need to include at night. (DMPS is every 8 hours if you want to consider that.) Moria > > > > > > Hi all and thanks for any help you can offer in advance!! Guest guest
Moria, I want to thank you very much for the thorough response and advice!!!! Please let me know how much zinc I should give at each dose 3-4 times per day as you suggested. My son is going to be 9 in Jan. and weighs 63lbs. Is there somewhere I can check for other supps to include? And just to make sure I'm clear...are you saying that simply adding zinc 3-4 times per day should lower the toxic level of copper in his system? I appreciate your help very much. Peace, > > > > > > > > Hi all and thanks for any help you can offer in advance!! The other supplements include: molybdenum, glycine, taurine, milk thistle or Thorne TAPS, phosphatidylcholine or lecithin > Also limit high copper > foods (nuts, organ meats, maybe something else I've > forgotten?). Here's the list from Amalgam Illness: organ meats such as beef liver or kidney, chicken liver, bone meal, shellfish, salmon, seafood, nuts (almonds, pecans, walnuts, pistachios), wheat germ, wheat bran, barley, oats, avocados, mushrooms, radishes, beets, green leafy vegetables, corn oil and margarine, yeast, brewer's yeast, garlic, blackstrap molasses, oranges and many kinds of dried fruits including raisins. Beans and lentils, especially dried ones are particularly high in copper. Soybeans and soy products like tofu contain much copper. Many fast food products such as hamburgers are " extended " with soy protein. " Meatless " sausages, burgers, bacon, etc. are usually high in copper. > Also, due to the high (red) hair copper you should > use ALA either not at all or sparingly, until the copper > is reduced. Here's what Hair Test Interpretation says about that: If hair copper levels are over 75 [which was not true on your test] then chelation with ALA for other metals [than copper] should be restricted somewhat. Copper levels of 75-125, average one day on for every two off chelation. Copper levels over 125, average one day on for every three off chelation. I believe when Andy says " chelation " above that he is referring to ALA chelation and that it's ok to proceed with DMSA or DMPS chelation regardless of copper level. You might want to take it easy on ALA until you see if you can get the copper down, but according to the Hair Test book, it would be ok to chelate with it regularly, too, given what the hair test showed. I'd recommend buying both books if you can afford them. They both have lots of useful info about copper toxicity, especially if other metal toxicities are suspected. See: www.noamalgam.com. Guest guest
Wonderful info...thank you, !! Yes, I do plan to buy one if not both books this week...atleast we've found our starting point (w/the help of so many caring people on this site!)
