Guest guest
Hi, I am sad to hear you say you have to stop the chelation for financial issues. But I have to ask? How old is your son? What issue is he chelating for? and doesnt your insurance cover the oral DMSA? I was just saddened by your post is all and depending on what your chelating him for, won't he get worse, or the chelation that you have done won't really do anything for the long run. If, for example, you were chelating for high mercury levels like I am with my 2 year old, the sooner you get this done at a young age the better the chance for recovery. I hear about so many kids from my DAN doc who have come to him at ages of 10 to 15 and it saddens me because at that point the damage has been done. They can be helped but responses arent as great. Not meaning to bring sour grapes but we are all in the same boat here when it comes to financial status I think. All the things we do like supplements go straight to credit cards, believe me. And insurance luckily covers the DMSA. (We use the transdermal cream) I sure hope you can find a way for your son. I get discouraged because of costs too, and wonder sometimes if we'll be able to keep up without losing our home but we do it because our son needs to have this nasty mercury removed from his body. His alternative is to live in a shell for the rest of his life. My heart goes out to you and will pray you can find a way to make it through the financial strain. > Due to financial reasons, we may not be able to continue chelating. > My son has been taking oral DMSA. Guest guest
Also saddned by this. I wonder if there is a bare-minimum list for supplements? The oral ALA isn't expensive at all and you really can do this without a doctor. I do understand the financial part. It is a big reason why I went back to school and am now working. There are so many different ways to make extra income. One of the main things my business partner and I are going to do is be personal chefs for various people. Essentially you go to their home and in about 4 hours you make a weeks worth of meals. It is really good money. A few of my friends are also consultants for various companies. There is also a health food store here that offers a discount if you volunteer hours there. If you are a church member, is there anyway they can help? Just brainstorming...wish I could help so much more, <plzpray4myson@...> wrote: Hi, I am sad to hear you say you have to stop the chelation for financial issues. But I have to ask? Guest guest
I remembered seeing this in the archive of posts by Andy. The context is slightly different (intolerances seemed to be the problem, not finances), but it gives a bare-bones approach to supplementaion. There may be more along this line in the supplement file. my best wishes René > I wonder if there is a bare-minimum list for supplements? > > Due to financial reasons, we may not be able to continue chelating. > > > > Any advice? > > Thanks, > > Jeanne > > > > > > > > > ======================================================= >

Guest guest
Many on this list have taken extended breaks from chelation for a variety of reasons. Think of this as an extended break until things improve financially. Continue to avoid sources of exposure. When things get tough financially people tend to allow amalgam fillings since insurance or medicaid covers them. Please do not do this. Guest guest
> Due to financial reasons, we may not be able to continue chelating. Jeanne, First I want to say that I am so sorry to hear about your financial problems. I hope you fix your situation soon. Good luck! Then I want to tell you that I never considered chelation a financial burden. You don't need a lot of money to chelate. Yes, you can go the expensive way and pay ten doctors, and do tons of tests, and buy all these expensive supplements that nobody even heard of, OR you can go the cheap way. Just buy some ALA, the basic supplements (B-complex, zinc, magnesium, vitamin C, some few others like fatty acids maybe) and just do it. Go slow, maybe chelate only every other week to make it last longer..... Also, you could add one-two other supplements every once in a while... > My son has been taking oral DMSA. He has done 2 rounds, and we have 2 > rounds left. So you mean you had a bottle of DMSA and only did 4 rounds of it? I am guessing you are giving 50mg at each dose? Why don't you divide more and give... let's say 25mg for each dose? This way you make it last longer. How old is your son? Are you giving only DMSA? Hey! If you are in real trouble and need supplements, I am sure that most of us here have bottles of supplements that we tried and didn't work for our kids, and we have nothing to do with them. If you want them, just let us know... give us your address, I am sure there are TONS of nice people here who would be more than happy to help you. Just some ideas...... Guest guest
I have gotten some great advice from you all - thanks so much for the encouragement! We have been totally directed by our DAN doctor since we started the biomedical stuff. I am very interested in hearing more about the chelating and other things we can do on our own, specifically diet changes (cutting out sugar, etc.) ALA supplementation other " natural " chelators. and any other recommendations. Where can I find more info on this? Other than here on this wonderful and supportive board. Thanks, friends. Jeanne
Guest guest
Hi Jeanne, If you look in the files section of our list you will find many helpful things. First, I would be sure to read Moria's files: http://home.earthlink.net/~moriam/ There you will find plenty of info. Also, I would check out the supplement file. At the end you will find Andy's recommendations for supping while chelating. Most of the supps he recommends are the affordable ones. I see that a number of people have offered to send you supps. You might make a list of what you use and what you could use more of and post that. People could then perhaps forward you some supps that you might need to continue chelation. As your financial situation improves you could start adding in the other things that are more costly. I will send you what we spoke of as soon as I can. Best wishes, Anita > > I have gotten some great advice from you all - thanks so much for the > encouragement! > > We have been totally directed by our DAN doctor since we started the > biomedical stuff. Please feel free to email me. Guest guest
You may want to start with the FAQs of this list. Jeanne, I chelated my son (and myself) with ALA-only for about 6 months and after that we added DMSA, but I have to say DMSA created problems for us. Improvements too, but we had to stop it a few times because of some problems it created. We just restarted chelation recently and we are only using ALA right now and we are already seeing little improvements. ALA works. My son improved so much from ALA chelation! He is doing so great in school. He is now considered Asperger from severely autistic - 4 years ago. In my opinion, ALA is better than anything else. You should definitely give it a try. Start with really small doses and watch for reactions. Is your son low or high sulfur? (do you know?) Valentina
Guest guest
I also would be willing to help and send supplements. I think posting a list would be a great idea! Some of us aren't able to help in huge amounts but can help in small ways, that could add up! I chelated him with ALA. Here is his story, if you are interested http://www.danasview.net/myson.htm > Where can I find more info on this? Other than here on this wonderful > and supportive board.
