Guest guest
As in hormonal migraines? These are the bane of my existence. They got a lot worse since my second child--I had a flu shot while pregnant, don't know if that had any effect or not. I'm having my amalgams replaced and hope that helps but in the meantime I'm trying several things as well. My doctor who is mildly integrative suggested I take 400 mg of B2, plus omega threes, calcium and magnesium. I also read a post by Jacquelyn McCandless about taking calcium d-glucarate and using progesterone cream topically two weeks leading up to your period. I think these are helping at least in terms of frequency. I had the first cycle without one but then I had the worse migraine ever the following cycle. This was after I had three amalgams out and even though we followed the proper procedure I wonder if I got a little mercury then or maybe just the sensitivity made it worse. I don't know. If you find something that works let me know. I do take imitrex so I can continue to function but I don't like taking it. > > I wonder if any of you (women) have experienced monthly pounding > headaches - usually during ovulation - and what you do to alleviate the > discomfort? Guest guest
, thanks for your reply. Yes, I guess what I'm describing would qualify as a hormonal migraine - the type that even keeps you up at night, and pretty much out of commission during the day! I feel for you! Misery loves company (I guess)! So have you tried McCandless' suggestions as well as the vitamin supplements? I'm on a good multi but ran out of fish oil and haven't started it up again....one amalgam and two crowns that should probably be done too...I'm afraid the homeopathic remedy I got at Whole Foods was a wash. -Olivia > > > > I wonder if any of you (women) have experienced monthly pounding > > headaches - usually during ovulation - and what you do to > alleviate the > > discomfort? Guest guest
I get those monthly headaches as well. Natural hormones have been helping me. I use natural progesterone the last two weeks of my cycle and things are much better. The book What Your Doctor Won't Tell You About Menapause is wonderful. Women can start having issues with hormones at very young ages, even causing them not to be able to get pregnant. rucos298 <rucos298@...> wrote: , thanks for your reply. Guest guest
Olivia, For years I used to get those. I just avoid salt and caffiene for 1-2 weeks weeks prior to time of onset and drink lots of water always, take omega 3's (about 1,000 EPA's, 700 DHA's) and take St. s wort. I haven't had one of those in about three years since I have made myself become better about doing these things. Good Luck, P.S. Hey, speaking of " FADS " , I wonder if curcumin would help? It is supposed to have anti-infammatory properties. > > I wonder if any of you (women) have experienced monthly pounding > headaches - usually during ovulation - and what you do to alleviate the > discomfort? Guest guest
, thanks so much. Your suggestions certainly beat steady doses of pain killers. Hate to give up that coffee but you do what you have to do. Never heard of curcumin. HMMM. Thanks again, Olivia > > > > I wonder if any of you (women) have experienced monthly pounding > > headaches - usually during ovulation - and what you do to alleviate the > > discomfort? Guest guest
The supplmeent butterburr extract, also sold under the trade name Petadolex, is great for migraine prevention. Take it with food or you burp up the most horrible aftertaste for hours. Magnesium and coenzyme q-10 are also helpful. Andy . . . > As in hormonal migraines? These are the bane of my existence.
