Guest guest
JOYCE - i would definitely wean off the prednisone. if for no other reason - for my own personal health!! it does so much destruction to the body!! i know, i was steroid-dependent for 8 yrs., and ended up with 3 more steroig-induced diseases, than i started out with!! it did help with the painful issues accompanying crohn's disease, but that was all. i'm sure it helped eliminate some of the inflammation; as it is an anti-inflammatory!! but, sincerely wish i could have taken something other that prednisone!! i don't think it should be taken i high doses with LDN! imho marshirisSee what's new at AOL.com and Make AOL Your Homepage. Guest guest
Ann, are you allergic to something that is giving you hives? Do you have any other conditions? I was on pred for toooo long because of uticaria only to find out that uticaria is an " occult " symptom of ulcerative colitis. The pred masked the colitis until I was put on antibiotics and went into my first flare. I plan to start LDN on Monday. Guest guest
I haven't found anything yet. Blood tests are fine. Seeing allergists for over a year. Nothing else helps. Guest guest
Nina, I had chronic hives for months a few years ago and saw many doctors, allergists, etc. No one was able to help me, in spite of numerous allergy medicines being prescribed. Finally a doctor told me the hives were not caused by me being allergic to what I was eating, it was that I wasn’t properly DIGESTING what I was eating in the first place. He prescribed digestive enzymes for me, and the hives were gone in 24 hours. I take them every time I eat and have not had a problem since then. Find yourself a good, broad spectrum digestive enzyme and give it a try. Guest guest
Judy, this makes so much sense regarding my own dx. I am going to get some digestive enzymes today, if I can. Can I find them in a health food store? Guest guest
Yes, you should be able to find them there. Be sure to get ones that work for a variety of different foods, and take them every time you eat. If they don’t work, take more of them or switch to another brand. I use American Biologics Inf-Zyme and it works well. I take 3 every meal, and some between meals to help with inflammation.
