Guest guest
ACTH squeezes the adrenals and seemingly works in the short rum. However, it will destroy your adrenal function and your immune system. I would stop this treatment before it does damage that may never be reversed. [low dose naltrexone] LDN & ACTH [was Re: MS, cefuroxime (Zinadol), meloxicam (Movatec) and relapse] Stavros, I don't see why you can't continue taking LDN with ACTH.The ACTH will stimulate your body's production of natural cortisol, just as by a different pathway, LDN stimulates your body's productionof natural endorphins. You need a certain amount of cortisol to be healthy, and at this time you may be low. In normal release, cortisol helps restorehomeostasis after stress. Cortisol is not only the body's natural anti-inflammatory, it has quite a fewmore jobs. It also helps maintain blood pressure and heart function; helpsbalance the effects of insulin in breaking down sugar for energy; helpsregulate metabolism of proteins, carbohydrates, and fats; and it helps usget up in the morning.Although it is true that too high levels of cortisol over a long time cansuppress the immune system, physiological levels of cortisol will not do soand should be compatible with LDN. In fact, LDN and cortisol probably work synergistically because cortisolhas one more job. It mobilizes the body's defenses against bacterial andviral infection. So by increasing your cortisol levels to normal (assuming youare low) you may be able to avoid taking antibiotics for your pharyngitis;at least it seems worth a try.http://www.nhs4u.com/Stress-cortisol%20insulin.pdfToo often all steroids are lumped together. There really is no comparisonbetween immunosuppressant drugs that match nothing in our bodies,(e.g., Prednisone and Humira), and our body's many differentnatural steroids necessary for normal health. For instance, all our sexhormones are steroids, as is cholesterol, vitamin D3, and even ourbile acids also are steroids.Natural steroids in healthy amounts behave entirely differently in the bodythan non-identical analog drugs like Prednisone. And even when our naturalsteroids need to be supplemented for our best health it's just fine, as longas bioidentical substances are used in physiological doses. If it were me I'd definitely keep taking my LDN with any natural steroidstimulation or supplementation; in fact, I do. I use a prescriptionnatural progesterone cream, with a bit of DHEA and testosteronemixed in because I tested low in these natural steroid hormones.Best health, Jostsolakos wrote: Hi all, again.I visited my neuro yesterday because my symptoms (MS hug, numbnessaround both knees and front side of the legs) got at a quite alarmingstate. He assured me that it can't be new damage because:1. They are symptoms I have already felt before, a few years ago and2. The symptoms are way too symmetrical to be a new relapse. He characterized the condition as an atypical "sub-relapse" and askedme to have an MRI to confirm this. He believes it is a paroxysm ofsymptoms. He did not want to prescribe me steroids because we wanted to avoidthe adrenal function suppression so he asked me to take ACTH(adreno-cortico-tropic hormone) which increases the natural cortisolproduction without suppressing the adrenal glands. Of courseincompatible with LDN but much better than taking raw corticosteroids.I think of restarting LDN one week after my last ACTH injection. Ibelieve I will have to start from scratch again, 10-20 days 3 mg, thenupping to 4.5 mg.I am a little worried if 4.5 is not my dose, but the results sincestarting were quite good, and still worried if LDN is just not for me,but again it has dramatically improved my condition over the last twoyears.I am afraid that exacerbations of my chronic pharyngitis are verytightly associated with exacerbations of my MS, so I must find a wayto get rid of it as fast as I can. But how can I get rid of it sinceevery time I start these antibiotics my MS goes bad in a matter ofdays. It is the second time this has happened within the last 5 months! On the other hand, I don't know how to test if my LDN could have gonebad, which I don't think that is the case. I buy it from Skip's andwhen sent to Greece, where I live, it has to stay at the customs for afew days. As far as I know, naltrexone hydrochloride is not verysensitive to heat and could survive a few hot days inside a warehouseunder 30 degrees Celsius. (according to the workers, the warehousesare air-conditioned but I don't really believe them...)Thanks for your support.Stavros
