Dana,

We are using Conjugated linoleic acid from Twin Labs mega CLA.(PS not

all CLA is alike so be careful) The info out there on CLA's effect in

shifting a TH2 back into a TH1 is overwhelming. Especially in an

after the fact infection. As I have had our issues with fatty acids

in the past, my son would just melt after using Omega 3's and I have

read a recent article on how omega threes'(now no one blast me on

this, it is in the literature) can depress TH1 to the point of having

a TH2 immune shift, which is not what you want. You want a balanced

immune system. We were on Actos for 3-4 months saw really good

response to it, but had to stop because of water retention, tried to

find something that would give us back the same positives and I

honestly think I have found it in CLA. The literature also states

that CLA does do the same thing as ACTOS on ppar activation. Hope

this helps. CLA also modulates IgE. I have the studies if you would

like them.

Thanks Dana! I often use your site for reference. I will be ordering the book

form soon, I have a long list of " need to buy " next pay day!

It is likely that your child will show more progress if you do things

yourself, without a doctor.

My son is biomedically recovered, and I have never taken him to see

any doctor after his dx at age 3-1/2. For chelation, I used ALA.

Increase your yeast protocol and see if that helps

Well, my typical response is that you are much better off NOT using a

doctor. I recently vented on another message board about what a very

prominent DAN did to a child I know.

This board should be very informative and good for you. Good luck.

Dana,

What specifically do you give him for immune system support?

I will clarify this statement in that he is biomedically recovered

except he still needs immune system support, otherwise normal cold

viruses will get into his brain. He no longer needs any other

supplement support tho. I would love to be able to drop all

supplements, like I did before, but if I drop the immune support,

things go bad.

Anyone have any ideas for other immune system support? Removing the

metals and correcting the vitaim/mineral/other nutrient deficiencies

and toxicities still has not been sufficient to correct his immune

system, altho those things did a LOT of other good things.

Thanks for this and the other information, both here and privately. I

have a lot of info to go on, and this morning I started one of the

ideas because I already had those things here.

I will let people know if/when I find what works. Both #2 and #3 have

nasty colds right now, so the cold virus which went INTO their brains

is still coming OUT.

Right now I am giving olive leaf extract and ViraStop for anti-virals.

For immune support, I am giving probiotics, vitamin C, colostrum, and

astralagus root. Occasionally I give a drop of CLO but I have to be

careful because he reaches toxicity levels very quickly now.

Here is the vent. I won't state the name of the doctor, altho it is a

very prominent one that probably 85% of the regulars here will have

heard of. My message was in response to someone who indicated

basically to " trust your DAN doctor " , even if the advise made the

parent feel nervous.

~~~~~
High doses of certain things were VERY beneficial for my son, so I
would never suggest anyone be " afraid " to try things. Cautious, yes.
However, I am currently having an email conversation with a mother
whose DAN [a very reputable DAN that I have read lots of really
positive comments about and is in the forefront of autism treatment]
recommended to her that she should give her younger child [older one
is low functioning] a HepB vax, and now that child is also autistic,
and this mother is devastated. I am sooooooo pissed off at this DAN
right now that I probably should not even be typing this message. But
the bottom line is that you should NEVER TRUST ANYONE, no matter WHO
it is, especially if the advice sounds suspicious to you.
Get information and advice from lots of people, but make your own
decisions and trust yourself only, you are the only one you can trust.
ITA. (That was a very restrained vent, btw!)
Yesterday, after adding a few things, #3's cold developed into a NASTY
thing which had him REALLY sick. #2 has a very runny nose, he threw
up just before bedtime, and he has the viral rash.
I had to give both of them cold medicine just before bed, and at 2:30am.
This morning they are still sick, but VERY INTERACTIVE and lots of
talking!
I added back low dose of mito cocktail and flax oil. Not sure this is
what corrected the problem tho, because I have done it on and off for
a while now, but I thought I would mention it.
I increased the vitamin C to the levels I was giving previously [3-4
grams per day].
I *did* add back half a children's multi, because on another list I
was reminded that iron helps the immune system. I had used IP6 as a
demineralizer for a very long time, my kids were toxic in both iron
and calcium. However, perhaps it depleted the iron before the calcium
levels were down? Anyway, the children's multi has 100% USRDA of
iron, so I gave #2 and #3 half of it, I do NOT want to have iron toxic
kids again so I only gave each one half. This appears to have caused
very nice improvement.
