Guest guest
Is anyone using ALA cream for chelation? Can it be ordered without a prescription? If so, please provide any pharmacy info or website. I'm using the DMSA cream for my 3 year old daughter and would like to add ALA as well. Using the oral is not an option due to taste and her inability to swallow a capsule. Thanks for your help!
Guest guest
You can get it without a script but it comes with extras which may or may not be desirable. Autistique at Springboard 4health - I can;t get the link to work right now. I beleive it has TTFD in it too and MB12 all sorts. I think Raquel used it a while back with good effect but discontinued when she realised about the TTFD. Mandi in UK

Guest guest
Hello, we do use TD-ALA and we get it by prescription through our DAN doctor. The script is filled at Coastal Compounding Pharmacy in Savannah, GA, but I know that Lee Silsby Pharmacy in Cleveland also has this product. The phone number for Coastal is 912-354-5188 and the pharmacists that I talk to there are very nice...as well as Lee Silsby. Great stuff in my opinion! Guest guest
Do you apply this every 3 hours since its ALA or are you following the 2x daily suggestion by the manufactor. This stuff definately has sparked my interest. Guest guest
Thanks. What is TTFD? Otherwise, this product sounds good. Autistique - has anyone used with any luck? Thanks to all for your responses. > > You can get it without a script but it comes with extras which may or may > not be desirable. > > Autistique at Springboard 4health - I can;t get the link to work right now. > > I beleive it has TTFD in it too and MB12 all sorts. Guest guest
Thiamin Tetrahydrofurfuryl Disulfide (vitamin B1), is the synthetic, fat soluble form of thiamin. Thiamin plays a key role in the body's production of energy, the digestion of carbohydrates, regulates nervous system function, muscle and heart function, stabilizes the appetite, promotes growth and good muscle tone. 1/4 teaspoon contains 50 mg (500 mg oral equivalence). fjennings@... fldofdrms@... Guest guest
The thiamine part is great but the TFD part is toxic. Actually Raquel reported problems with it before she dropped it, but check the archives. The problems reported from various people are yellow stools (impaired bile flow), anger and aggression, nausea (only when the product is applied, stops when the product is stopped, I've seen 2 separate reports of that), memory loss that returned when the product was stopped (that was an adult report). There are less toxic ways to get thiamine. Guest guest
I was/still am unsure. From another list they said follow directions...I did every 8 hours. (I just received Thursday and used Fri - Sunday) I believe its the TTFD that is the reason for the 2x a day. I turned down the idea of using this before because of the TTFD, but I want to try the ALA...I tried oral ALA...crushing & putting in sipy cup (My guy is a tough one to get orals into)....major meltdown,,,it took 2 weeks to recover & get back on track...no trying oral again in my near future. I am still not clear about the TTFD & the reasoning against using it...I heard agitation & aggression. Yellow stools from problem with bile. We did not experience any of that except an episode in Wal-Mart, but I'm blaming that on sensory issues (It was a new Super Wal-Mart we had not been to before, we had some kicking and screaming, but even his ABA teacher had went there too this week end and thought it could have just been a sensory issue.... she thought the lights, sounds, openness (sp?) & all the people were over whelming...even to her.) If anything his BM were better as we have been battling constipation. We were either water or rocks, these were 2x a day and just right Anyone please feel free to chime in the negatives of TTFD No major wows this weekend, but was more vocal then per usual ,ie is non-verbal, we had alot of approximates for sounds & songs. More imitating (Daddy was showing inappropriate " signs " and ie was imitating them He can now " give the finger " and some other " bad' things) & very interested in drawing on Magna Doodle. ie has a cold which could be masking things. No negatives so we will use again next week end. Lillian fldofdrms@... fjennings@... Re: [ ] Does non-prescription ALA cream exist? Guest guest
How much and how often did you try the oral ALA. I presume he has NO mercury amalgam dental fillings. Wal-Mart is prime location for major meltdowns due to all the fluorescent light, noises, smells, bright colors, etc. S S I tried oral ALA...crushing & putting in sipy cup (My guy is a tough one to get orals into)....major meltdown,,,it took 2 weeks to recover & get back on track...no trying oral again in my near future.<BR> _______________________________________________ Join Excite! - http://www.excite.com The most personalized portal on the Web! Guest guest
Low & slow....every 3 hrs 3 days on 4 days off 3 rounds...my son is 3 yrs old - 35 pounds and I dissolved the 50 mg in 50 ml of distilled water and gave 2 ml (actually got maybe 1 ml in) every 3 hrs with yeast protocol in place, this was not his usual yeast reaction. I am not putting down oral ALA..but for us right now it is not he best route. When I am better able to get it into him we will try again....his reactions could have been due to dose, not getting complete dose every 3 hrs is my suspicions. It is difficult to follow Andy's protocol with oral ALA so I'm opting to try the TD route. Lillian fldofdrms@... fjennings@... Re: [ ] Does non-prescription ALA cream exist? Guest guest
Good question, I am not sure about the answer. I do know, however, that we used TD-DMSA from both coastal and lee silsby pharmacies. The Coastal TD-DMSA was much cheaper, but we couldnt handle the smell...it was the most awful thing I have ever smelt before. We could smell it in the box at the curb where the postal employee left it. YUCK! We switched to Lee silbsy's td-dmsa which has relatively no smell.....but it very expensive. I know that you asked about ALA and not DMSA. The point is...I did not compare prices of ALA with both pharmiacies, we only used coastal for the TD-ALA. But, if Lee Silsby's dmsa was more expensive, I would assume their ala would be as well. Kim > > > > > > Is anyone using ALA cream for chelation? Can it be ordered > without > > a > > > prescription? Guest guest
Kim, We are using the TD-DMSA from Lee Silsby. We've done one round already, and the smell didn't bother me. I'm glad that my doctor uses them then! Wow, if it smelled as bad as you say the other does, it would have been very discouraging. The problem I have is that my daughter's DAN doctor won't authorize ALA right now... she said that it causes yeast and she implied too that she's not 100% convinced that DMSA alone won't do the job. She said that we can introduce ALA after several rounds, but to be used on the off days. Does that make sense to you? Anyway, so for that reason, I've been acquiring about the non-script ALA cream. I may wait a few rounds and then ask her again to prescribe ALA. We'll see... Thanks! > > > > > > > > Is anyone using ALA cream for chelation? Guest guest
She may not understand the low/slow dosing Andy Cutler recommends. If she continues to refuse you can get the oral version OTC. S S <tt> Kim,<BR> We are using the TD-DMSA from Lee Silsby. We've done one round <BR> already, and the smell didn't bother me.
