LAURIE - i feel you, girlfriend!! i know how i felt with my grown children on drugs/alcohol!! you can only lead them to the trough, but you can't make them drink!!! whatever you do, don't give up on him, altogether!! this is what i do with my daughter, who is morbidly obese!! i still go right on fixing her diet breakfasts & lunches each and everyday!! whatever she eats, otherwise, is on her!! but, she knows i'm her support!! i do not contribute to her eating what she shouldn't!! she's wants to stop smoking cigarettes, also; but keeps buying them!! i used to pick them up for her; but i don't anymore!! TOTAL SUPPORT FOR HEALTHY HABITS!! that's where i stay!! maybe, some day, the message will get thru to those who we support for wellness!!! i want her to try LDN, also; because she has PCOS (POLYCYSTIC-OVARIAN-SYNDROME), a precursor of diabetes!! so, Laurie, I FEEL YOU, WHOLEHEARTEDLY!! but, you just hang in there; be there for him, as much as is healthy for you!! Laurie,In my experience, I did have an increase in aching and muscle pain in my legs about days 2-4 (if I remember correctly). I felt like it was my leg muscles were "waking up" again. This subsided by the end of the first week, and then I walking and doing great! I think everyone's LDN experience is different so I don't think there are any hard and fast rules about what happens when you start LDN. I would say, that your son's intestine's could be doing the same thing -- just "waking up" again after not functioning well for so long. Just my humble opinion Chrisie>> Morning Everyone,> > I want to update and question. J started LDN 3 weeks ago-tomorrow.> His mood improved by day 2. Are you all having him to eliminate foods that irritate, if he's going

out w/friends he's most likely eating or drinking things that cause

eruptions. Is he doing any special diet, using gut healing

supplements, doing any detoxing of the body?

Chrisie, . Your sharing your experience certainly makes me feel better--- and Ilove to hear humble opinions! I wish I could, , I wish I could. He's 18 and not interested in special diet. Funny he was vegan since he's 12, then vegetarian since he turned 18, shortly after diagnosed with Crohn's. Did being vegan slow down the Crohn's or did it contribute? Or did it affect at all? I have bought him the Absorb Plus shakes (he tried 1) Brown Cow yogurt(hasn't opened any), Alfalfa, garlic, folic acid, B vitamins, acidopholis, oil of ...oh, I am blanking---anyway it is difficult to do anything but urge him to keep track of what he's eating and try the stuff I buy. He doesn't drink anything but Vitamin water and sometimes a glass of Silk soy milk---me thinks i'm babbling. I wish it were me, I have read soo much and I would keep a food journal and be careful to take important supplements and exercise! But he is not me. Boy, do I hate this goshdarn Crohn's! Thanks for replying---it is so good to be able to pop in here,~~laurie> > Are you all having him to eliminate foods that irritate, if he's going > out w/friends he's most likely eating or drinking things that cause > eruptions. NO SOY!!!

Join Dr. McCandless' Autism_LDN Group, I know, your son's not autistic

but crohn's patients should follow the same gut healing protocol as

McCandless' autistic patients. Join her group and drown yourself into

her " Files " section of that forum, a WEALTH of gut healing info.

Autism_LDN : Autism LDN

Autism_LDN/

Your son, depending on how bad his crohn's gets will have to make a

decision, to do what is required for healing his gut or be sick and

miserable, the choice is his.

A book I highly recommend is Prescription for Nutritional Healing,

Third Edition, maroon color border on book by Balch and Phyllis

Balch, Google search this book. Wrap it up in a gift package and give

your son a present. Everyone should have this book.

Laurie -

I have been waiting for you to post an update on your son.

Is he taking any other drugs right now such as immune suppressants? What dosage of LDN is he taking?

My experience: I have been taking LDN for 3 months now for Crohn's. I have had two very short flares since. One was major with 104 degree fever and major stomach pain. That was about 4 weeks after I started LDN. I kept taking the LDN and each day was better until I was feeling great again. The other flare was minor and just involved stomach pain. In both cases, the major pain was for maybe two days and I was back to "normal" about a week ater the flares.

I have also heard that these flares are normal and will dissipate with time, but, like you, I am not sure where I saw that.

Even if these small flares continue (which hopefully they will reduce over time until they are gone) I will take four bad days in three months, eight or nine so/so days and and around 75 days of feeling great!

I would have your son keep at the LDN and see how things are a few weeks from now.

Please keep me posted on the progress. If you have more questions or need more information you can e-mail me directly at dschwar4321@....

[low dose naltrexone] ---18 year old son w/Crohn's update

Morning Everyone,

I want to update and question. J started LDN 3 weeks ago-tomorrow. His mood improved by day 2. He voluntarily played board games with his little sisters! He spent a Saturday night out with friends! But, and you knew there would be one, this past Sunday he complained of aches in his intestinal area. He is moving slower and I know he's not feeling as good. I thought I read here? there or somewhere that it's normal to flare a bit before feeling tons better??? Is this true? I went searching for stories but didn't find any and unfortunately ran outta time.

Can someone help with their own personal experience or point me to relevant blog/sites?

cordially,

Laurie

I do belong to Autism-LDN group, as I joined shortly after hooking up with this group--must've been a suggestion. I can gather ideas and pass them on...whether my son takes my suggestions or not, yeah, the choice is his. I have read the book, too, thanks . I kindly take in all the advise I get. with warmest regards,~~laurie >> > NO SOY!!!> > Join Dr. McCandless' Autism_LDN Group, I know, your son's not autistic > but crohn's patients should follow the same gut healing protocol as > McCandless' autistic patients. Is there any particular reason why he is not at the optimal dose

(preferred by Bihari) of 4.5mg?
