Guest guest
Oprah will not ruffle the feathers of Big Pharma. Pamela " Courage is doing what you're afraid to do. I recently emailed Kirby, author of " Evidence of Harm " to inquire about appearing on the Oprah Winfrey Show. He replied that he hasn't as of yet, but said there have been efforts made to do so. Sadly, his efforts have been in vien thus far. He feels that maybe they need to hear from more parents. I have contacted the show at least twice in the recent past regarding the epidemic of behavioral and learning disorders and their link to vaccines. My hope is that enough parents can email Oprah to demonstrate there is *great interest* in getting the Mercury-Austim issue in to the forefront of the public eye. Although efforts are being made on many fronts of this issue, I know we all feel that still, not enough people know about it. Everytime I tell someone what has happened to my boys I receive gasps and shock, most people have never heard of the vaccine-ASD connection, while *many* of them are living w/ kids who have these disorders. The Oprah Show is one of the most effective ways of getting the info out there, to people all over the world. Here is a link to email the producer(s) of the show: http://www2.oprah.com/email/reach/email_showideas.jhtml Take care, Meg " Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Guest guest
Maybe someone who knows someone at a newspaper will get that someone to write an op ed piece surmising why people as powerful and as seemingly interested in " justice " as Oprah is won't participate in the dialogue on this one.... Seems like that is the way to get the ball rolling. Anne > > Oprah will not ruffle the feathers of Big Pharma. > > > > Pamela > > " Courage is doing what you're afraid to do. Guest guest
Dear All, I too believe that Oprah taking on Big Pharma would require just far too much courage. I'm still quite new to the lists but certain statistics stick out for me and perhaps offer another avenue to bring the issues into greater public debate. The statistics indicate that 1 in 5 children require special education services. In my ASD 5 year old child's kindergarten class it will be approximately 1 in 4 for next year. I read that it is estimated that approximately 20% of the population have a genetic inability to process and excrete mercury successfully. That so many boys (4 to 1 ratio to girls) and of that number 90% are reported to be blood type A, would it perhaps make some sense to approach the issue from a cautionary position in that special consideration should be applied by health care professionals when considering vaccinating boys of blood type A as these are most susceptible to harm? I read a report recently of a Chicago-based pediatrics clinic (30,000) members who had a policy of not vaccinating and there are reportedly no cases of autism. As this practice would be local to Oprah, perhaps they could participate in the debate. Just my thoughts, Randi > > Dear All, > > This is semi-off topic, but I can't think of a better place to post > this (my twins have mercury poisoning via vaccines, aka " PDD-NOS " ). > I recently emailed Kirby, author of " Evidence of Harm " to > inquire about appearing on the Oprah Winfrey Show. > He replied that he hasn't as of yet, but said there have been > efforts made to do so. Guest guest
Much more diplomatic than my suggestion of public humiliation :-) Anne > > > > Dear All, > > > > This is semi-off topic, but I can't think of a better place to post > > this (my twins have mercury poisoning via vaccines, aka " PDD- NOS " ). > > I recently emailed Kirby, author of " Evidence of Harm " to > > inquire about appearing on the Oprah Winfrey Show. > > He replied that he hasn't as of yet, but said there have been > > efforts made to do so. Guest guest
This has nothing to do with a quest for justice. This has everything to do with the reverse Midas touch. Fan or hers or not, Oprah has serious credibility issues. What was the book she pimped then they found out it was a complete fraud? She did damage control, but it still sticks to her operation. Evidence of Harm is current events, not coffee table fluff. Guest guest
I think that as a general rule, couching the autism-thimerosal connection in larger terms like " the effects of vaccines on developmental delays " or " the disproportional influence of the pharmaceutical lobby on the American electoral system " or something like that will get more attention from the public. People who are not affected by autism or mercury-poisoning directly will have to realize that these connections have wider consequences that go beyond the interests of a few subgroups in society and can come and bite them in the foot one day too. Unfortunately, 1 in 166 is still not seen as a big deal. But it would become a different story if one thinks of ADD, ADHD, LD, OCD and so on in the same group of neurological disorders that are possible casued by a ridiculous vaccination schedule and, say, the takeover of healthcare by a rampant free market mentality that puts mercury in vaccines to preserve them because alternatives would reduce their profit margin. In 2006 congressional and 2008 presidential elections this should be made an issue that grabs the attention of the larger public and I'm afraid that focusig on autism alone might not do the trick. I hope I'm wrong. Guest guest
She won't do this because they are sending vaccinations to Africa. Now autism is now on the rise.... multivials of thimerosal laden vaccinations. She may think she is doing good by not ruffling feathers now, but when it becomes more evident there.... she may get on board. Last year I sent to her show an e-mail with the article on autism on the rise in Africa and I did not receive a response. Maybe we need to all e-mail her on the same day as we call in to DC on scheduled times.... just a thought. Jackie--- > Oprah will not ruffle the feathers of Big Pharma. Guest guest
Oprah has visited some tough, contraversial local & international affairs on her show - to name a few: female circumcision, genocide, famine, and the contraversy surrounding government delay/failure regarding Katrina disaster reaction. I feel that her resistance to do a show on ASD is most likely due to Pharma politics, this makes the most sense. I am sure she has her lawyers detering her from any such topic, especially since the backlash and trial time she faced when she indirectly knocked the beef industry on her show a few years back. I do agree however, that if as many of us as possible contact her, she can not ignore such a great public plea. She could approve this issue from the angle of an epidemic, with guests speaking to the issue from all angles. The mercury-ASD issue could *at least* be brought up and out in the open, even if the discussion became one- sided (Big Pharma). Meg > > This has nothing to do with a quest for justice. Guest guest
I think that's how Montel approached it when he had Kirby on; from both sides...never realized why, now it makes sense...it was good to get the info out there either way, good point. So by the Autism group not opening the flood gates to ALL the disorders caused by thimerosal (including those who were poisoned in utero by thimerosal) They are only doing Pharma a favor. Adults as well as babies are effected by thimerosal. I wish someone would start a National Group for mercury poisoning. This is NOT about winning damn lawsuits, This is about saving a childs life...Or it should be anyways. Donna
Guest guest
Which brings up a very important point. I know we are all up to our necks right now just helping our own families, but there may come a time when things are better for our children and we will not be on duty 24/7. At that point it will be time to think about what we can do for children with ASD in third world countries. Yeah, a little overwhelming to say the least, but who better than parents on this list? Many of us are helping our children with little in the way of super-expensive testing or Rx medications, and this is the kind of experience that would be completely necessary. Just in case you all weren't feeling like you had enough to do yet :-). Please think about it, though. René > > She won't do this because they are sending vaccinations to Africa.
