We use DMSA as a part of our chelation protocol. We use it in combination with

ALA, both dosed at 12.5 mg every 3 hours in the day and every 4 hours at night.

We have had tremendous success with this protocol and will be starting our 24th

round (weekend) tomorrow. For more info, please feel free to email me off list.

Hi ,

Welcome to the list. Most on this list use DMSA, ALA, or both. DMSA chelates

both mercury (from the body) and lead. ALA chelates mercury (from the body and

the brain) and arsenic. Please read the FAQs about Andy Cutler's protocol.

These must NOT be used if the individual has ANY mercury amalgam dental

fillings.

Thank you very much , i was wondering what to do since most all

forms of DMSA are pill form. i have never gotten my son to take any

sort of pill yet.

My son is only 2.5 years old, very tough to get him to put anything

in his mouth he doesn't want to.

I know that ALA can be found in liquid form, so that is an option.

After reading the Andy Cutler protocol, i was curious to know

whether the 4 hour DMSA dosage schedule includes night time waking.

thanks,

john

,

DMSA/ALA or DMPS with our without the ALA are the two main chelators used

for heavy metal detoxification. Some use these in the transdermal form to

bypass the stomach, since the chelators tend to contribute to yeast growth.

yeah, if that is the article I'm thinking of, it has been out

there for years, not bad info.

> Has anyone tried using DMSA?

yes, I'd say hundreds of people, at least.

that is good -- don't start throwing it down your son's throat

just yet. Wait and plan and read first.

By the way, ALA is the top chelator for mercury -- the DMSA

is optional.

yep, that sounds likely. How to approach it may depend somewhat

on what you want or need the pediatrician to do in response.

For example, INFORMING him that you are doing this and that you

need x/y/z is different than wanting him to tell you how to do

it. This approach has worked for some (no guarantees).

Hi!

I just want to quickly chime in to say that we have had excellent

luck with ALA, when used as per Cutler's protocal. The ALA has really

seemed to pull a lot of metals for my son. DMSA did, too, but when we

added in the ALA, there was quite a difference in how quickly he

seemed to be detoxing and his stools were very, very metallic in odor

when using ALA and DMSA. Love ALA!

Vegetable Glycerin, Natural Flavor Blend, Citric Acid, Xanthan Gum,

Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, Luo Han Fruit Concentrate.

The natural flavor blend and sodium benzoate would cause meltdowns

with my son. I'd just buy ALA in capsules with no fillers and mix each

dose in a little juice.

He's been on the Feingold diet (www.feingold.org) for years, although

once he got through enough chelation he could eat all the foods, at

least with enzymes. The artificials are still mostly bad news. Sodium

benzoate is listed with Feingold as something potentially problematic.

If you find your child has sensitivities to artificial ingredients

(and most are), I really recommend Feingold. Once you've done the diet

strictly for a couple of months you can add stuff back in to see

what's tolerated, and tailor the diet for your particular child.
