Guest guest
Here is what we do, and it works everytime. We spray Afrin nose spray in the nostril that is on the side where the ear is hurting, make sure you tilt his head towards the hurt ear for a few minutes after you spray the Afrin. The Afrin will help take the pressure off the eustachian tubes by draining the mucous that is plugged there. Also, crush a clove of garlic in 3 ounces of water. Let it sit five minutes. Then, with a fine meshed strainer, strain out the garlic, and just use the water left over. Put that in a little dropper, and drop this into his ear and have him lay there for 5 minutes, then let it come out. Do this twice a day also. It may take a few days, Juli --- Egeresi & Don Pattison <egerpatt@...> wrote: > One more question for this afternoon - please advise > > My son may be developing an ear infection right now > but I would like to avoid antibiotics, or even going > to the doctor's office. Guest guest
Thanks Juli, I will try, but what to do if he won't tolerate this?? He hates his ear touched and he won't stay in one place, especially laying down for 5 minutes... I will try the Afrin at least at bedtime tonight, and once in the morning, hopefully we can hold him down with my husband... thank you --- Juli <rank35@...> wrote: > Here is what we do, and it works everytime. Guest guest
My sister used to get tons of ear aches and she used a couple of drops of vinegar. > > One more question for this afternoon - please advise > > My son may be developing an ear infection right now > but I would like to avoid antibiotics, or even going > to the doctor's office. A hot water bottle is really soothing too -- my kids carry them around all winter. Nell
Guest guest
Hi , We use garlic oil (2-3 drops in the ear) to combat ear infections before they get too bad. They stink, but they do seem to help. We found our garlic oil in the health food store. Just my .02, > > One more question for this afternoon - please advise > > My son may be developing an ear infection right now > but I would like to avoid antibiotics, or even going > to the doctor's office. Guest guest
Hey , Ohhhhh, have i been through it with the ear thing!! It used to take 2 nurses plus my husband and me to hold my son down so the doctor could look in the ear. He is 11 now and finally, but barely, will allow some treatment. You may have to have hubby hold him down for maybe 3 minutes with the garlic, and maybe 2 for the Afrin. My son wont lie still for more than about 2 minutes, and it works anyways, so try! There are also Gaia Children's ear drops, our DAN doc recommended, but the AFrin and garlic has always worked, but it may be easier for you to get these drops. Good luck and let me know how he does, Juli p.s. It just kills me that for years he went on antibiotics for these earaches, when all along, I could have treated them right at home, minus the antibiotic damage... --- Egeresi & Don Pattison <egerpatt@...> wrote: > Thanks Juli, I will try, but what to do if he won't > tolerate this?? It works overnight here. It's messy and stinky but I LOVE it! Don't use it though if there is a perforation. Anita >
Guest guest
I got this from another mom. I used it twice on my children once they were asleep at night and it worked! Use a garlic press to press some onion. Use a medecine dropper to drop 3-5 drops of the " onion juice " in the ear. Cover with a piece of cotton ball. > > One more question for this afternoon - please advise > > My son may be developing an ear infection right now > but I would like to avoid antibiotics, or even going > to the doctor's office. Guest guest
Don't use it if there's a perferation where? Ear? Guest guest
Yes, a perforated ear drum. If you notice any pus, for example. If you're not fairly certain that there is no perforation (and it isn't very common), it might be best to have a doc take a look first. Just don't let him convince you that antibiotics are the way to go.
