Three of our five children have had extensive testing, and the

results are listed below. I'd love your feedback on chelation

methods, suggestions, doctors, etc.

Please note with all these boys the unusually high silver levels. I

have no clue what this means, but I know it puts them universally off

the charts in terms of silver toxicity. The first does not fit

mercury toxicity as determined by the counting rules, but the next

two certainly do. Curiously, the first had some unusual CBC things,

including elevated liver SGOT, noted below. None have amalgam

fillings, but I had four or five while pregnant.

Counting rules synopsis:

· Number above 50%: 11

· Number very elevated: none

· Number in the middle: 18

· Other patterns: Calcium not elevated, and does not fit the

all low pattern either.

He does not seem to fit the mercury toxic profile on any level.

Other relevant info:

Seems to have many of the traits of Asperger's, but very high

functioning (will likely be valedictorian, great roles in school

plays, good friends, etc), such that no one else would know the

discomfort he's in. Visual disturbances, anxiety, hyper sensitivities

to sights, sounds, smells, very spacey as a child, but improved. Some

allergies (GFCF, to start with), but not nearly as excessive as the

other two. Slightly elevated Hemoglobin (16.3, ref 11.6-14.8) and

Hematocrit (46.8, ref 34-46), as well as SGOT, aka " AST " (63, ref 0-

40) and low serum copper of 61 (ref 70-155). They requested a 24 hour

copper urine to check into possibility of 's Disease (genetic

inability to chelate copper – low serum copper indicates possibility

of storing up copper in the liver, which is universally fatal if not

caught and treated early, ironically via chelation w/ zinc – even in

conventional medical circles – and subsequent lower doses of it

throughout lifetime!) Test was negative. He was highly pyrroleuric,

and has a need for MUCH sleep relative to his age group. By Thursday

or Friday after school he invariably comes home after school and

either goes to bed for the night, or takes a long nap, wakes for a

couple of hours, and then sleeps through the night. Although he

enjoys people, he absolutely needs a reprieve from them, or he

becomes brutally " honest " (sometimes inappropriately so!). He knows

this, and compensates for it by making sure to get enough sleep and

by avoiding people when he hasn't. Chronic asthma, sinus infections,

steroids, etc.

we won't do for our children? So exhausting, but so worth it!

My son was high iron AND high calcium. I used IP6 to remove the

excess. The high levels caused oppositional/defiant behavior for him.

My son was like this. HNI enzymes helped with many food issues, altho

not all

http://www.houstonni.com/

ALA chelation removed all my son's food problems.

This is food intolerance and metal toxicity for me personally.

Thanks Dana.

I went to your website to see how to chelate copper, and was still

unclear. It looked like zinc and some other things, which we are

largely getting from Pfeiffer supplements. I found it confusing b/c

when I looked through Andy's posts re MT disfunction, he said the

Pfeiffer supplements won't chelate anything. Can you help clarify? Do

you recommend with the high levels of copper that we even chelate at

all?

How do we know where the copper is from? How do I know if I have

copper pipes? We had the water tested, and there was nothing at all

out of bounds. We've had a pool, and I don't know what algecides we'd

used. It's broken now, and we're planning to reinstall. Any

suggestions for purification systems? I know an electronator uses

salt, but that would not elimnate the need for algecides.

Thanks,

Sara

you can generally find my advice about chelation methods here:

http://home.earthlink.net/~moriam/Andy_dose_sched.html

you can find some of my thoughts about doctors here:

Not all of my thoughts, but some, anyway.

you can find more of my suggestions here:

I do NOT know about the liver test values you are discussing,

but general things to help the liver might be a good idea.....

(Oh, why am I so tired of writing this list? ACK. )

Here are 2 prior posts of mine about " liver stuff "

http://onibasu.com/archives/am/124272.html

http://onibasu.com/archives/am/35181.html

Here is some text I wrote and saved about " liver support stuff " :

----------------------------------------------------------------

Suggestions for liver support:

1. Traditional Chinese Medicine (e.g. accupunture-- if you find

a pediatric accupunturist they can work on using treatment methods

that work with your child, doesn't have to be needles. My

accupunturist uses VERY fine needles with me, for example.)

2. fenugreek seed sprouts (you'll have to make them yourself,

from seed, but it is not hard)

3. low or no use of: alcohol, drugs, hormones (including in

much commercial meat/chicken), pesticides, chemicals....

4. beets (in moderation)

5. artichoke (extract or food)

6. Milk Thistle (recommend as an extract).

7. coffee enemas (see work of Max Gerson) (generally not

appropriate for children)

8. use of ozone gas over the liver (not generally available

to most people. But for anyone who does have a medical ozone

generator, " cupping " over the liver is good).

9. I've heard that massage over the liver area can also be

helpful.

Comments: Since you have already " counted " , I'm gonna trust you

on it, if you don't mind. Not only does this test not show

impaired mineral transport, not only is it " normal " , it is

VERY normal. That means, among other things, that the

toxic levels shown are likely to be " accurate " . Which

also means that the silver level really is --um-- well,

let's start with " very elevated " , and then we can move on

to " a concern " and that it really " stands out " .

I don't know what to suggest, or even how concerned to be.

You can see what Dana has on silver:

http://www.danasview.net/metals.htm

and you can also search for silver (in onibasu after you

figure out how to use it -- not hard.)

My guess is DMSA, but that is a WILD WILD guess, not based

on much.

I don't read it as sealing the deal, myself, I read it as

just another " possible " . On step 1 and step 3 you are

SORT OF close. I would take it as " sorta kinda " rather

than as terribly clear. Which is, um, well, neither

here nor there.

The number of " yellows " for toxic metals also seems

" a little fishy " and mercury might be a culprit there?

We already discussed the copper, and personally I would want

to get to work on that right away. Copper reduction does not

take a really long time (unlike mercury!) which is another

reason I would want to get going on that. Also, since it

is CLEARLY high. Mercury clelation is certainly also an

option to look at, and **may** help with the silver

(which, of course, you will be reading anything you can

get your hands on about!)

This is the only one of your kids tests that has

the " possible adrenal issues " marker. It is right above

this comment and reads " under under over over " for those

You can look into either getting some testing done

by his doctor(s), or you might try some adrenal support

kinds of supplements.

He counts as abnormal mineral transport, as Andy

(later) added rules (in his book, anyhow) that say that

2 scores that are " off by 1 " counts. Anyway, this one

is closer that the prior test (above) -- as you noted.

My comments on high copper being relatively easy and

relatively fast to reduce still apply here, so I personally

would want to get going on it. Again, that doesn't rule

out mercury detox either.

Mostly I think I've already said what I can (in prior comments),

nothing else " new " here. " Ditto " on " silver is a concern " .

" Ditto " on the other yellows on toxic metals may be

mercury related (and MAY come down with some chelation).

Big ditto on copper, but we already talked about that in

other posts.

Other general comments:

There are a number of things you can try (if you have

ANY energy after cooking!) with regard to food allergies,

light sensitivity, other (possible) vision issues,

sensory issues, and so on.

Addressing metals often is a good place to start or

to address SOON, because it often has a lot of effect

relative to the amount of work involved.

Lots of people (Dana in particular) can comment on various

aspects of behaviors and supplements that might help.

Ditto for anxiety (I like GABA for anxiety, myself, along

with aerobic exercise.)

Then again, anything more may just be totally

overwhelming at this point.

Anyway, people can and do go into more detail on many

sub-points, at times.

good wishes,

Moria

I read on the home page of one of the manufacturers of Grapefruit

Seed Extract (GSE) that they sell a " bulk " powder for use in pools

that they say greatly reduces the need for chlorine (not eliminate

it).

Also, you could consider an attachment to the filter system that uses

Ultra Violet to kill bacteria. I think there may also be Ozone

systems available to do the job as well.

Yeah! Great suggestion!

Do you know where I can find product info on any of these things? (I

haven't tried google yet, so if that's a stupid question, feel free

not to answer! Kinda like your teacher in elementary school

answering " look it up " to the question about how to spell a word!)

Amazingly I actually found where I read this.

I also know that I was on the manufacturer's site, but I don't have

that handy.

I think with a little research you should be able to find what you are

looking for.

They also mention on this site how GSE can be used effectively in

sewage treatment plants and save on harsh chemicals in our environment.

http://www.nutriteam.com/gse/water.htm#jacuzzi

Regarding if you have copper pipes, that should be easy enought to

determine, most people have exposed pipes in their basement, especially

around the water heater, the copper pipes are rigid metal the color of

an ordinary penny.

Zinc and molybdenum. I used zinc.

They are not active chelators, based on my understanding. For certain

kids, they can get the child's own body to start removing metals,

altho if there are metals that are " stuck " , like in the brain, I am

not sure those metals can come out unless you use an active chelator

like ALA.

Do

Yes, definitely something to consider.

I have common sources of exposures here

I have heard really good things about salt water pools, and my uncle

has one and it is great. So you can consider that.
