ADHD question and TD-DMSA update

Hey group: First, we are in the middle of our 4th round of TD-DMSA

(just finished the " on days " ) and wanted to say that we had the best

weekend ever. Thanksgiving was wonderul. We went to relatives house

with some that dont know about jacksons ASD diagnosis. They NEVER

suspected his ASD, in fact, he was more behaved than the NT kids.

pretend played with the other kids and showed us what he

wanted for Christmas. Then, we had his " on days " for DMSA friday-

sunday. Again, during the on days, he is wonderful. Now, that we

are in the middle of the " off days " ....he is a total bear, just

horrible. Has anyone else experienced this? Also, has anyone

experienced better chelation with ALA than with DMSA?

Regarding the DMSA, our son had a behavioral regression when starting

chelation (yeast and clostridia are present)...and we had to tell his

teachers what we were doing. But what is happening the most

is.... has VERY bad ADHD behaviors. I know that you dont

develop ADHD from chelation. Its just that he cannot sit at all,

ever during the day or during ABA therapy, which we pay $$$$$

for...all wasted, because they cant run the programs, because he is

literally climbing, jumping and screaming....and defiant.

Everyone wants us to put him on an ADHD medication, and quite

frankly, so do I. The school flat out told us that there is NO WAY

he can be included in mainstream kindergarten next year with this

behavior, and they are right...he is really bad.

So, is there anyone on this list who is chelating (dmsa, dmps,

anything) AND on ADHD meds? Our psychiatrist told us that the ADHD

med may help with hyper/focus...but would make his ASD symptoms

worse, such as scripting and OCD's.

Is this true? Can ADHD meds make ASD behaviors worse? Anyone out

there with success treating ADHD and chelating at the same time?

Please help? Thanks

Kim

Great!

My #2 can be like that also.

Yes, altho not " horrible " , but definitely regressed. For my son, it

was because of mineral toxicity, and the ALA was pulling the excess

minerals on the " on " days.

I never used DMSA, only ALA.

> literally climbing, jumping and screaming....and defiant.

Several things caused this for my son. Yeast, virals, mineral

toxicity, etc. Climbing is yeast for my son. Defiant is a lot of things.

Scripting for my son was B12 deficiency, and then B12 toxicity. But

the main reason for my son's prior scripting, and OCD, was virus

issues. Chelation did apparently allow the viruses to take over his

body, but anti-virals have been very helpful in removing these issues,

plus allowing a lot more speech.

Kim,

There are many that believe the ADHD is a form of ASD, there is a book

called the ADHD and ASD connection (I can't recall the exact title --

its on Amazon). So I'd say if your chelating, I'd say your lossing

the ASD and moving to ADHD. Hopefully, with contined chelation you'll

remove the ADHD. (At least this is what I believe). I'd be leery of

any drugs for ADHD, I think the cheltion should in time remove the

ADHD too.

: Thanks for respond to this, and I totally agree that ADHD is a

form of ASD. Personally, mercury poisoning affects kids differently,

and one diagnosis is ASD, one is ADHD, one is apsergers, etc.

I dont know if our son is moving away from the ASD diagnosis yet, we

have only completed 4 rounds of TD-DMSA from Lee SIlsby...except that

it is definitely a mixed bag of reactions.

Like I previously said, he is much more aware of his surroundings,

great eye contact, speech better - but not conversational yet. He is

acting more like a typical 2 year old, going through those terrible 2's

when he says NO to everything and laughs. At age 5, that is tough,

but also encouraging. The negataives of chelation is huge increase in

the ADHD behaviors, hence my question regarding meds. I also think

that if we chelate long enough, perhaps the ADHD symptoms would also

subside...but in the meantime, what to do with those teachers????

Thanks again ! Kim
