Hello all, cant sleep as usuall.. Harper, Im not on Prednisone. But I do take B-1, Folic Acid, E, and a multi pill. I will go to the doc. soon, I just hate taking pills. 9/9/99 was the last time I saw a doctor. I was in a coma, Ive had two other visits , transfusions, esophagus surgeries a bioposy, and was diagnosed with cirrhosis, an 80 year old liver.

I self healed for 5 years, then since the coma, I have bouts of depression, and a rapid heartbeat. I think Im getting worst though, and its all due to stress. I will see a doctor and go from there.

I'm embarrassed at being intrusive in your life, but I'm worried about your situation. Get off your rear and make an appointment NOW. Monday morning, be on the phone first thing. I know it's hard to get moving, to take definitive action when you feel bad and don't have support. I don't know that I could have managed to even get myself to doctor's appointments if I hadn't had a loving husband to help me. I probably would have just sat at home in a fog, too tired to move. But you have to, you really, really have to. This is the most important thing in your life right now. This is the thing that can give you a future. If there isn't anyone to do it for you, you have to do it for yourself, no matter how hard it is. I apologize in advance if I'm being pushy, but this matters too much for me to be carefully polite. Best wishes.

Vicky I feel the same way about the group. I honestly don't know where I'd be without yall. You are always there for me. I would be very depressed and very uninformed about all of this. Dr. at the Clinic I go to don't give much info as the new comer said about his experience. Group I thank each and every one of you for being there for me when I need you. Thanks for listening to the complaining but also thanks for listening when I have something good to say!!!

PEACE & LOVE FOR ALL

Don't expect too much, Vicky, I am clean and sober for

back. The trick is to recognize them more and more

Hi Vicky,

I know the methadone is highly addictive.... But for now it is

keeping my son out of Philly.... At least doing it this way for now... I

don't have to cry all night and wonder if the knock will come on my door

to come identify his body....I just went thru a situation with my

girlfriend.... Her son overdosed in Rahway Prison!!!! He was found on

the toilet with a needle in his arm.... Got hold of a pure bag of dope

and he was gone.... I was alone in the room with him when they pulled

the plug.... I sent her out because he turned black as soon as they took

him off life support.... He was pronounced in about 5 minutes.... She

always thought he was safe cause he was in prison........ Not so.....

I would rather have him on a legal form of drugs and monitored that out

on the street doing who knows what..... I want to ask a question and

maybe someone can give me an answer. Instead of losing weight my son

gained weight and looked all blown up when he was on the other.... Is

it something in the heroine????? My other son is here... He hasn't seen

his brother yet..... Probably tomorrow I will take him over there......

He still can't believe it.....This is going to really be hard on me.....

Well he has to see him but he won't believe the shape he is in.... I

just can't believe how many people are addicted to this drug.... I went

with my son one morning and there all people from all walks of life... I

would never have believed they were addicts.... Heroine has no

mercy..... It can take anyone down.... my son was always into weights,

healthy eating, vitamins and fitness.... Never smoked....casual

drinker.... I am still learning how fast it can take you down.... My son

lost it all in 9 months.....

Diane

Diane, I just re-read your email and realized that it was your friend's son, not yours. Regardless, my thought and prayers are for you and your friend as well. I guess I'd better head back for bed and save the rest to read in the morning. I can't time worth a dang at whatever time it is.

Diane it is always good to receive such a great compliment. Especially from strangers. My little girl was at school one day and I went for a lunch and her friend thought I was her sister. I told her to tell the friend she was sweet. I don't know why your son gained. I am not familiar with Herion. I can't even spell it right but if there are ??? about any other drug let me know. I am glad to see he is doing so well. It does take everything out of all types of people. The one thing everyone says later is they can't beleive it happened to them!!! The Devil gets all. He is not picky and picks the strongest just to show he can beat them down.

Diane,

I know the effects of heroin. I was a user for like 3 years. In that time I lost my house, my children and almost my life. I have been off heroin for 13 1/2 years now. I won't kid you, it was one of the hardest things to do. I too was on methadone for a while but I abused it and was soon back to heroin. (I really didn't give the methadone program an honest shot) I hope all turns out for your son. I will continue to pray for him (and for you too). I hope I didn't offend you with my last e-mail.

I to was a heroin addict in the early 70's. When I quit the Army didn't even offer me the opportunity.to use methadone. They just put me in a hospital room and let me be sick for three days. Just think if I had not been an addict so long ago, I might not have had the opportunity to know all of you guys. I'm not making light of anyone's problems, just seeing something positive from my past mistakes.

One of my good friends was a heroin addict, I used

with him a few times. He used heroin, and later was on

the methodone program (after he got busted robbing a

pharmacy). He remained skinny throughout. He died,

actually of a methadone overdose. His " counselor " was

with him at the time. I hestitated to say this,

because of your son, but as we all know, you can

overdose on pain pills or sleeping pills or even

aspirin. At that time (and presently) counselors were

often recovering addicts, well this one had stopped

recovering. Pat (my friend) was not yet 21. In my

mind, the greatest sign is that he reached out for

help. Pat only went on the methadone program to avoid

going to prison for robbing a drugstore. Drugs are

just as easy to get in prison as out here, maybe

easier. In AA we say the first step is the only one

you have to take yourself, you have an army of

recovering addicts to help you with the rest. It would

appear that your son has taken that step. Good luck, I

pray for your son and you. -dz-

Hi dz.... the program my son is in makes you come every day and they

medicate you there.... If you are late they refuse to give you the meth.

He pays $11 a day for treatment and $40. for counceling there.... The

ones on Welfare and Medicaid get it for free.... My son has no prison or

jail facing him.... He just wants to feel normal and be able to

function.... Thank you for sharing your story..

We are here, not for this world or our physical bodies

or our egos, but to further develop our souls, IMHO.

If it takes a little pain now and then, so be it. We

did not get this disease as a punishment. Everything

I've gone through since getting clean has brought me

closer to the core of my being. My soul is immortal,

this body may last 100 years, it may last 50, (at

least I'm creeping up on 50 pretty quickly). We are

not usually concious of the growth our soul is

experiencing, but over time you can't help but notice

it.

It has, as you said, also brought many kindred spirits

together and we can learn from each other. We have all

had to dig a little deeper into ourselves to accept

and deal with this problem. I have learned a lot from

you all, not so much about this disease, but about

mental toughness. -dz-

Hi Ray, welcome. I'm not sure exactly what you mean

about Joe. It seemed to me that he had started another

group, probably invited some to it. , correct me

if I'm wrong, but I don't think that Joe has been

excluded from joining us. Perhaps he could keep his

non-traditional group and also join us. Speaking for

myself and probably many of us, he had a lot of good

things to say, that I needed to hear. My only problem

was the intolerance shown to people on the standard

tx. Anyway, hope you stick around. -dz-

No. I was talking about the physical withdrawal. I actually used drugs

after, but never heroin again. I took me until about 1884 to get clean from

all drugs. Even after all of these years I still have the desire for them

on occasion. I wish that Methadone was available to me at the time. It

allows you function without the physical withdrawal while being slowly

weaned from it.
