Guest guest
Sounds like your son may have a yeast problem due to the antibiotics. Yeast makes a lot of kids really hyper. You may want to consider getting him on a good probiotic like Natrens right away. Guest guest
I know the Pediatrician always says to have the kids eat more yogurt while on antibiotics. NUTRITIP: A Chaser for Antibiotics Antibiotics kill not only harmful bacteria; they also kill the healthy ones in the intestines. The live bacterial cultures in yogurt can help replenish the intestines with helpful bacteria before the harmful ones take over. I usually " prescribe " a daily dose of yogurt while a person is taking antibiotics and for two weeks thereafter. http://www.askdrsears.com/html/4/t045700.asp > > Hello All, > Has anyone had the experience that antibiotics make their apraxic kids crazy hyper? Guest guest
I agree with Maureen about the yogurt if you have to have a child on antibiotics -make sure it's one with live cultures if possible, which in general would be the more natural lines. You can now purchase Stonyfield yogurt at Walmart and stores like BJs and they used to only sell at more expensive health food stores http://www.stonyfield.com/ My boys love the drinkable ones and I have them in the house all the time (I buy mine as a 6 pack at BJS and we get the strawberry) but they have a really large line -even a line just for little ones! Yes they are a bit pricier than other yogurts but you will pay for health one way or another -front or back end it's our choice but as we know back end is much more expensive and painful typically! Here's a great article from Dr. Sears- I would say not just the colon but the gut in general " Lactobacteria, especially acidophilus, promotes the growth of healthy bacteria in the colon " http://www.askdrsears.com/html/4/t045700.asp And keep in mind while necessary at times that in the US- the country of one of the worst health care systems on the planet where we are overmedicated, over sugeried (however you say that http://illuminate.newsvine.com/_news/2010/08/12/4872424-us-healthcare-rankings-n\ ot-good -read it and weep) and yet have higher mortality including in infants than some third world countries that means times drugs are OVER prescribed -being peed into our water supplies (yuck!!!!) even if people like me don't just stick myself and kids on them at the drop of a the first sniffle....which is why we are now developing super bugs. I wrote this article on how there are healthy ways to fight disease..and interestingly enough every botanical in NV is a natural antiviral, antifungal, antibacterial -and science is learning that unlike man made drugs -once again Mother Nature knows best in how to deliver health in the safest, yet more powerful way. http://pursuitofresearch.org/2010/11/29/autism-antivirals-drugs-or-food/ =====
Guest guest
Sorry for the late response. This is potentially an issue that you are having before the antibiotics. I took us years until we got in front of a doctor that understood issues of yeast and bacteria. has had a huge yeast problem that definately gets worse when he is on antibiotics, but when we got him on the right antifungal and the yeast really went away, he dramatically changed. Please consider seeing a doctor that will test and understand the tests to make sure that your son is on the right medication. Keep in mind high yeast levels can lead to bacteria which may need to be taken care of (more antibiotics)so it has been two steps forward and one step back for us. Let me know if you have any questions because this is just the beginning of the metabolic stuff we have been doing. Thanks, Dave Son () - 6 > > I agree with Maureen about the yogurt if you have to have a child on antibiotics -make sure it's one with live cultures if possible, which in general would be the more natural lines.
