Guest guest
I'm not sure if I like this...not for the regression reason - but because you are going for the evaluation Monday and I'm just now not sure if he will get an appropriate diagnosis with all the new frustration behavioral issues. So would you say his speech is still at the 21 month level? Let me know because if the only area he regressed in is behavioral ...hate to say this but I'd put him back on the nutriiveda even before Monday. Anyway -let me know about the speech -if that is still golden -just put him back to get rid of the frustration issues prior to Monday -because clearly the neuro isn't going to help you advocate for any speech services if there isn't any significant delay in this area anymore. And yes we know from the work of Dr. ez that the " younger the better " when it comes to fish oil supplementation- so this is why I wrote what I did that for the little ones it can be quicker. For older ones Cassandra reminded me that I had said to her that perhaps nutriiveda provides some sort of a " cast " neurologically speaking that maybe once they take it a few months or years -they won't have to once the area " heals " Until we do the research nobody is going to believe what you just wrote and I already believe as well -nutriiveda for sure is somehow healing the areas of the brain that were affected. Don't know how yet -but it's just way too obvious. Let me know about the speech- any breaking down- forgetting how to say words once again -classic apraxia signs??? Or it he talking fine now? (PS for those that missed your child's surges -I have them below easy to find from a new page I started at our apraxia.org page ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~your last messages Do any of you use Nutriiveda for your little ones (under 3)? Hello , Our 24 month old has been on NV for just over a week now. We have seen some tremendous increases in his speech. He is attempting many more words and is now " singing " along to some songs. I was very worried about trying this with my son at first as well. I did have it approved by his Pediatrician and plan to take it to his Pediatric Neurologist on March 1st. I do have my degree in science and have asked many other scientists where I work what their thoughts were about the product. No one thought there would be any problems. I also tried the product before I gave it to my son. I started him with 1/3 of a scoop twice a day for a few days and then increased to 1/2 a scoop twice a day. I am thinking about waiting another week and then stopping the NV to see if there is any regression. Again, our son's only additional supplements are the ProEPA and ProEFA. I will keep you posted on any additional improvements! 25month old son on NutriiVeda update Hello Everyone, I wanted to give you all an update on my 25 month old son Diagnosed with CAS. My son started on the NN fish oils when he was 20 months old with a small surge in soft vowel production. (He previously had no words and made very few sound other than grunting and pointing.) He also started Speech therapy with a private speech therapist once a week at that time (because EI did not have a speech therapist available and still doesn't.) He began using " B, " " M, " and " P " consonants with soft vowels at around 23months but he had no words and was not mimicking any sounds. At 24 months he did start to pick up some animal sound approximations " ba and moo " and was able to say " moe " for more. We had his 6 month re-evaluation (through EI) in the middle of January. They evaluated his expressive language to be at 12 months and increased his therapy to twice a week. (He has no other delays.) He does have some hypotonia in his lower lip and tongue. After careful consideration and the " OK " from his pediatrician, I started our 24 and ½ month old son on Nutriiveda on February 1st. It has been two weeks and we have seen him go from 1-2 word approximations to well over 50 word approximations! He will try to mimic anything I ask him too. He even has some two word approximations: " la oo " for love you! He can make all consonant sounds now except for " j, t, d, and s. " I did not tell his speech therapist when I started him and she could not believe the difference! She said he was mimicking and trying any word she asked! I can now get him to mimic whole sentences: I will say one word at a time and he will repeat it. He will say " I - wan - moe - ruck - pees " for I want more truck please. He has many more spontaneous approximations as well. He can even say some words spontaneously and perfectly: " pop, happy, me, my, mama, baby, go, up, yeah, wee, uh-oh " and I am sure there are a few more that I am not thinking of right now. He will even sing along with his new CD aimed at children with CAS " Drills on Wheels! " So it has been about a month now since he was evaluated to be 12 months expressively and I took him to Chicago to see a Developmental Pediatrician (to get a formal diagnoses) on Friday. There was a speech therapist, a developmental therapist, an occupational therapist, a child psychiatrist, and the Pediatrician in the room for his evaluation. They determined that his expressive speech is now at a 21 month level! That means he went from a 12 month level to a 21 month level in less than a month (and two weeks on the Nutriiveda!) We were amazed and so was the group that evaluated him! I did bring a label and some of our group's information to let them know about the Nutriiveda, but they pretty much dismissed that it could be the Nutriiveda. They told us to keep doing " whatever " we were doing. I believe differently of course! I can't say that there have been many other noticeable changes in my son, but he has never had any behavioral problems and he has always been very social. I do think he focuses a little better during his speech therapy sessions but other than that, I haven't noticed any other changes. (As if the speech wasn't enough!) So, thank you for bringing this wonderful product to our group and I hope that all of you see as many great changes in your children as we have seen in the last few weeks! Sincerely, ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ =====
Guest guest
Yes, I am not sure what to do here. Jack's speech seems to be leveling off, but there has been no true verbal regression that I can see.   I don't feel like he has lost any words. Some of his approximations have changed a little but, the SLP said that is normal. He is using some substitutions such as " g " where a " d " should be. I would say he is still at or very near the 21 month level. I am trying to determine if I should just cancel his appointment with the Pediatric Neurologist on Monday because we already have a diagnoses of Apraxia from the evaluation performed by the Developmental Ped., SLP, DT, OT, and child psychiatrist. They determined he should continue speech therapy twice a week for an hour per session(which is what EI increased to in January.) I belive that they determined that Jack was at the 21 month level because the watched me prompt him for several sentences and were able to understand most of the words that I asked him to say. If I had not prompted him, I don't think he whould have said even two words during the 1 hour evaluation. Jack is generally shy the first time he meets someone and will not even try to speak unless I prompt him too, so I feel like the Ped. Neurologist will not see how well he is doing unless I prompt him.  Do you think I should just hold off on the neuro appointment for another 6 months? I think the only thing I really wanted to get from this appointment was a blood work-up to test for Vitamin E and Carnitine deficiencies. I could probably have his regular pediatrician request the blood work-up. So, you think I should start him back on the NV and fish oils ASAP?  I am unsure of what would be best at this point.   From: kiddietalk <kiddietalk@...> Subject: [ ] Re: Update on 25 month old now OFF NutriiVeda for one week Date: Friday, February 26, 2010, 9:51 PM  I'm not sure if I like this...not for the regression reason - but because you are going for the evaluation Monday and I'm just now not sure if he will get an appropriate diagnosis with all the new frustration behavioral issues. Guest guest
I would cancel it and just get the blood work/testing from the ped. That's who did it for my son Tanner. And by the way speaking of Tanner- OMG Tanner's speech- maturity continues to improve. The other day I was saying how I didn't think he could improve much as he's already " normal " in so many ways now...but it's his conversations, who he is, thought process -everything. I just got a call from one of the parents who has a child that is a year older than Tanner, a year younger than Dakota. Typically this kid only hangs out with Dakota...well even the mom noticed that all of a sudden her son is talking to Tanner all the time now- wants to hang out with Tanner. Tanner's just so much more mature and this mom (who is a doctor too- she's coming Monday to get some nutriiveda from me for her son who is " normal " as she also knows about another child -the 17 year old ADHD student who is now straight A that I've written about) I mean I don't know what the food in this is doing -because that's what nutriiveda is -all certified as food -no drugs -but whatever it is, the ayurveda and protein together is just brilliant. And speaking of which -you have a child that has just had remarkable surges too. Taking him off created behaviors that are not typical of him and what benefit would a diagnosis bring with what he is exhibiting now? What diagnosis even? Yes I would for sure put your son back on everything -nutriiveda and fish oils. You can always reschedule the neuroMD exam if needed - but based on what's going on - why see him now? If you even " need " the apraxia diagnosis in a few months then you have it...but perhaps you won't even need it? This stuff is mind blowing and I just can't wait till it's validated. I do know for some reading this it's hard to believe -and so nobody feels bad- it's hard for me to believe this is happening!!! And this is my own 13 year old son!!! (and by the way sitting here with my 15 year old son who has been nonstop working on school work all day which is also Sooooooooooo not like him as he is the last minute late night kid...I have him on 4 scoops a day now too!) =====
Guest guest
Hi again, So, I decided to cancel the neuro appointment. I didn't see what the point would be right now. I will talk to his regular Ped. to get the blood work done. I did start Jack back on his fish oils and NV on Saturday evening. I will keep you updated on any new progress. He has only had two full days worth and I have already seen more progression. This morning, he said, " Mommy...Are you? " When he wanted to know where I was. He was even able to use fluctuation in his voice to make it sound like a question! We play a game where I hide something in his room like one of his favorite tractors and he has to try to say " Tractor...where are you? " until he finds it, but I have always had to prompt him for the words in the past. Well, I will keep you updated on any new changes!
