I am soooo excited to find this group. My name is . Here's a little

background:

My 3 yr old has yet to be diagnosed. He has severe language delay but we are

unsure of the cause. He has some eye contact issues, but no other ASD symptoms.

He does not use any words consistently. When he does " talk " it mostly sounds

like baby babble. He currently attends an ECDD program for 2.5 hours a day, 5

days a week. He gets mostly shadowing, ABA, gross motor and hanen-based

therapy.

For the most part, he's a normal 3 year old. He's happy, affectionate, a good

eater, and has no tactile issues. He has about 20-25 signs that he is pretty

good about using-- often without prompting. We were GFCF for almost 8 months

with little improvement. Some eye contact and babble, but nothing more, and

both improvements have increased with school.

Here are my questions for all you veterans out there:

What's the word on supplements? I read a few posts about fish oil.

What about medical intervention? He's going to see the Ped in January and I'd

like to ask about maybe a neurologist? Or perhaps a private SLP (the one he sees

now is through the school district)?

On random occasions, he will use a completely inappropriate sign instead of the

one I know he has used a million times before. For example, yesterday, he

signed " eat " when I asked him if he wanted to read his book again (typically he

would sign " more. " Does anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks to everyone in advance for their input!
