Hello, All!

I have a question that I know you can help me with. My son has apraxia and

is getting ready to transition to the school system (turns 3 in January).

They are agreeing to do a speech eval, but that's all. He is currently in ea

rly intervention and his last eval showed scores of -2 standard deviations

in social, social communication, cognitive, and adaptive, -1 standard

deviation in fine motor, and " average " in gross motor. Now, my question is,

isn't it my right to request the psychological evaluation? I know that the law

USED to state that, but has it changed? I feel that it would be

irresponsible NOT to evaluate him with a psych eval, given his previous scores.

I

asked them if I had the right to request the psych eval and they said

no...something doesn't feel right, but I may be wrong.

Please help me out with current laws.

Thanks,

Brittany
