We didn't have side effects but for some reason Tanner needed to take the

carn-aware/canosine on an on and off schedule...he would surge when first on

then after a few weeks or so he'd surge if we took him off...and then we'd wait

and put him back on..same thing all over. I did like it but it kind of bothered

me that I didn't understand why it didn't just work all the time like say the

fish oils...why on and off? I always have included carnosine/carn-aware on the

list of things worth exploring and do believe many in our group have tried it.

Most dramatic results prior to nutriiveda have always been fish oils which I

also highly recommend. I never heard of the reaction you are talking about

before from carn aware..but like anything stay away from anything you see an

allergic reaction from...even if it's just an innocent looking little ol'

peanut!

Oh and PS -carn-aware is a mixture of carnosine, zinc and vitamin e. Your child

may be sensitive to the carnosine or the mixture or something else in the

mixture? (so of course report to your child's doctor to explore why)

Hi Latika!

You probably mean from this posting

http://cherab.org/information/dietaryeffects/carnosine.html

Even though at the time I was in touch with Cathleen Buchanan, PhD, she last I

heard is no working with Dr. Chez and not sure where she went to. I'd say

you're better off anyway going right to the source and contacting Dr. Chez

-here's the info off the http://www.carn-aware.com website

Carn-Aware, LLC

P.O. Box 88 - Lake Bluff IL 60044

Tel: 847 295-0748 Fax: 847 295-0744

They may or may not know what is causing the runny nose. But again if it's an

allergic reaction as far as I know the only thing they can say is don't take

it/give it. Since carnosine is found naturally in red meat and chicken...any

runny noses after eating either of these foods? Also keep in mind that outside

of fish oils which I believe are well accepted as benign, when you start mixing

any other vitamins you can change reaction as well. But again do call Dr.

Chez/Carn-aware and let us know what you learn. Thanks!
