Guest guest
I gave Isaac his NV again this morning and left him alone with it to see what he would do with it. I did some other things around the house and then checked in to see what had become of it, I found he had tossed it over the kiddy gate and so I prepared for another show down! I assumed our normal position for the NV delivery and surprisingly he just started drinking it, with no fuss. Although he would never drink it on his own, at least right now, he WILL do it once I hold him and put it in his mouth! It took all of 5 minutes this time and now it's over. Parents everywhere!!! The first couple of times you have to give your kids their NV in a forceful way, trust me, they will comply VERY SOON to your demands. They DO NOT want to spend a half hour fighting to no avail. They WILL get it and work with you to avoid the confrontation. I've found it's easier and works MUCH FASTER if it is in a liquid form rather than in a food. They can take FOREVER to chew their food and they can spit it out, then, who knows how much of the NV actually got in. If they are beyond a sippy cup stage but, will fight so hard that it sloshes out of the cup, then revert BACK to the sippy cup so it safely gets into them without any waste. This doesn't have to be that hard. If you are firm and don't accept no for an answer, they will eventually come around to what you want. After that initial first time, give them their cup and allow them the chance to drink it on their own, if they don't, before it gets to room temperature, MAKE them drink it. It is that important. I am thrilled that I know, it will only take 5 minutes in the morning and 5 minutes in the afternoon and we're done for the day. Sure it took one, God aweful 30 minute episode at first, but, it is SO paying off now and saving us both a lot of time and anguish!!!
