I give the 5ml to my son, who turns 5 in three weeks. Have you added the EPA

capsules yet? Start with 1, but with the 5ml dose of EFA, you can go to 2 EPA

caps.

Subject: [ ] Fish Oil Dosage - Please Help

Hello

I'm sure this has been discussed a million times on this forum but with

everything going on in my life, I unfortunately don't have time to sift through

all the emails. I sincerely apologize.

I have a 5 1/2 year old - non talker at the moment with apraxia. She just has

such a hard time imitating sounds. I am currently giving her Nordic Naturals

Complete 3-6-9. I give her 5ml a day. Is that sufficient for a child with severe

speech delays ? We have been on this for almost a year. Should I increase this ?

I'm looking at the label and it says 5ml is

Omega 3

EPA = 675 mg

DHA = 450mg

Other omega 3 = 287 mg

Total Omega-3 = 1412mg

Omega 6 = 560

GLA = 165 mg

Omega 9 610mg

OA(Oleic Acid) = 400mg

We started Carn-aware two weeks ago and had to stop bec my daughter started

having insomnia. Not sure if it's related but I stopped it for now and will try

again later.

Please let me know if giving 5 ml of Nordic naturals Complete 3-6-9 is

sufficient for a 5 1/2 year old with severe apraxia.

Thanks so much!!

A half teaspoon of ProEFA liquid (or it's commercial equivalent Omega 369) is

about the same as two full capsules of ProEFA (or it's commercial equivalent

Omega 369) ProEFA is what we used in our parental and professional anecdotal

feedback

http://www.cherabfoundation.org/2001/cherab-foundations-first-apraxia-conference

A full teaspoon (think that's 5 ml?) of ProEFA is about the same as 4 capsules

which is not what most of us use. You may wish to try instead 1/2 teaspoon (or

2 capsules) of the ProEFA to one capsule of ProEPA. You will be using less fish

oils but should notice a larger surge due to the change in formula/raising the

EPA slightly higher.

Of course you can then increase back to the same full teaspoon (same as 4

capsules of ProEFA) but add 2 ProEPA- again the same formula.

The dosages on the bottle are what is approved by the FDA -and they can only

approve one or two capsules unless there is research with that exact formula.

Any formula involved in research for children like Efalex is much higher dosages

(ie: 2 to 3 capsules 2 to 3 times a day etc.)

Here's more from our facebook apraxia.org page Fish Oils 101

http://www.facebook.com/topic.php?uid=115029735601 & topic=7401 If you are still

confused let me know -these questions are pretty easy for me to answer as I have

for over ten years now!!!

And outside of essential fatty acids (the fish oils) I highly suggest you

explore NV or nutriiveda for the reasons I write on this page

http://pursuitofresearch.org/science.html Each serving provides ALL of the

essential amino acids and nutrients our bodies need daily from whole food

sources. It's rare to get all of the essential amino acids in one meal –I don't

know if most appreciate that. Essential (essential fatty or amino acids) means

the body needs it but can't produce it so you need to consume them –but due to

poor or restricted diets many of us are lacking in daily essential nutrients-

it's no magic –they are essential and do make a health difference when there or

not there.

Thanks .  I started my son on fish oils (2 ProEfas and 1 ProEpa)

approximately 4 weeks ago. Since that time, he has started imitating verbally

with lip smacks and some simple sounds.  He also now can stick out his tongue

and has just recently started to be able to blow and make kisses. All major

improvements from where we were before.  There has yet to be a surge in

vocalizations in that he still isn't making any word approximations or words

yet.  I was wondering if I should increase his dosage?  If so, would you suggest

increasing the EFA?  EPA?  Both?  Thanks for any input you may provide.

Kim
