Guest guest
, There are so many exercises that can help us as football coaches. One of my goals as a football coach, was to go to the Supertraining Camp and see how science could help me become a better coach. Dr Siff and I talked at length how many different exercises could be tweaked to enhance a football player's abilities on the gridiron. It was neat to learn how the Olympic lifts and speed can go hand in hand. Also, as Coach Davies always mentions, hip flexibility/mobility are so essential in our game. The Olympic lifts help you get that full range of motion while not sacrificing strength, speed, or explosiveness. Also, I learned at the Supertraining Camp that my martial arts background can be very beneficial to training football players of all positions. Probably the biggest mistake that we are all making are the number of reps that we do and the fact that we do minimal deceleration training (to facilitate sudden changes of direction and pace), another vital topic that we also addressed at the Camp. Dr Siff mentioned that training with multiple sets of 1 rep (of sufficiently demanding load) to perfection seemed the way to go as an explosive athlete. I tend to agree with this. There are other things that we can do that incorporate a higher rep scheme, but in our explosive work as footballers we need to hit it and relax, step back and get refocused for the next rep. Any comments? Guest guest
Unbeleivable Sue. When they start sub-classifying a special needs team I say the whole point has been lost. First it's your kid who's not qualified, then the next and so on. I say you should all get together and demand that they change this rule. What next?? Loree5 football I've already written this to one list but am so mad I need to work it out of my system. A couple of weeks ago I wrote that tim would be in a foootball tournamount, special needs team, everyone gets a chance to play and everyone gets a medal. Well not so any more. I just got a phone call from the chap who organises the teams and tim would find it too difficult and the competition is too great from the other teams. Of course he is more than welcome to go along and watch all his friends play for 5 hours and if there is one spare he can also get a medal. The one place I expected equal opportunity, indeed where he was promised it and its been denied him. If he can't even play on a special needs team then what the hell is the point of dragging him to training every week? I am really pigged off. The reason tim would find it too hard is all down to the very iffy border drawn for where special needs lie. Most kids in his team are at levels 1-3 of the register, ie sue wong
Guest guest
Sue, Is there no one who has the authority to do something about this?? Why weren't the special needs defined at the time you began practices with Tim? This man sounds like he'd fit in in the states with all our " win no matter what Little League coaches. " I hope you get this resolved. I understand your feelings completely. Don't they have Spec. Olympics in your area? has played soccer, basketball, swimming, softball, and bowling with SO. But that wouldn't be fair to the other children but I am so angry I was speechless on the phone. They could at least have made him a sub. Turned down as having too great special needs to play on a special needs team. I am going to write a letter to this man, whether I post it or not is something else, I am SO pigged off right now. > > sue wong > > >
Guest guest
Hi, plays soccer with AYSO. She is on a great team with a great coach. They have been together for 2 seasons and prob next season too. doesnt kick much, but shes a good blocker and an excellent " throw in specialist " . And the exercise is great. AYSO has a special needs team, but they are more for people in wheelchairs. They are very inclusive - everyone plays, no one is denied and have gotten much less competetive - playing for sportsman/womanship and focusing on teamwork and cooperation. The parents have to sign an agreement that they will not interfere with the coaching and will cheer fairly to all teams. Or they can be suspended from the games. All our kids have great opportunities now. There was hardly any sports for girls when I was growing up. We played street games only. So how nice to be a girl, play a sport and be totally included and accepted as one of the team! ~ Mom to 11 DS and Diabetes Type 1 and 7 NY
Guest guest
In the States we call it soccer, but never mind. Jan had several years in kid soccer. I finally withdrew when they were up to demanding a birth certificates (perhaps in advance of last year's Little League fiasco. Jan was on a regular team, with kids a couple of years younger (and her size and development level). She got no accomodations other than a Dad who knew nothing about the sport except to yell from the sidelines to keep her in the defensive position she played. Her job was to clear the ball when it came into her zone and she did pretty well at it. Not brilliant, but pretty good. The coach had never done that before. Years later, he still fondly recalls the teams that he coached with Jan on them. I think that is how it should be. When the stages get to real mean competition, then it is time for our kids to get into a league of their own .. i.e. Special Olympics. Guest guest
I will be biking. Oh, the joys of sitting and sweating and going no where! ;o) I hope you have a great time with your daughter. My mom and I are VERY close, that is such an important relationship. I don't have too much separation anxiety from my daughter, yet. She is 10 mos. old and still nursing LOL! However, my oldest son has just hit puberty and that is a WAY scary feeling! I just thought it was kind of funny. I'm looking forward to seeing my daughter today. She goes to school at the Univ. of Tenn. and we live in Illinois so I haven't seen her since the middle of August. She is driving home (long drive--13 hours for me , 9 for her (I haven't figured that one out yet!) I was looking at my journal and I weighed 265 when she left for school and 250 today so perhaps she will notice a change. She is my biggest supporter on my weight loss journey. I probably haven't been below 250 in her lifetime. So what is everyone doing for exercise today? I went to the Y this morning and swam laps. I used to be the slowest one in the pool but now I am finding that I actually quicker than some people (of course they are probably 80! Have a great day everyone. Let's do this thing!! I hear that a lot on the news broadcasts, about a " Big bear of a man " who weighs 250 pounds at almost 6 foot. That's les than *me* and I'm only 5'5 " ! >I'm looking forward to seeing my daughter today. LOL >So what is everyone doing for exercise today? Exercise? Um, well, I'll be doing a lot of fidgeting while waiting on the phone for someone to answer at the county administration building in a few minutes. I've heard it may take over a half hour on Hold before someone even gets to you. Oh, how I dread this phone call! If all goes well I'll either be walking around the park again later or just do some treadmill time. I need some exercise for stress relief today. I just thought it was kind of funny.>>>> I've said for years I weigh more than the vast majority of our team (Bears) which was really depressing (boy I miss the 'fridge') though I haven't checked in years I'm sure there's still only a few heavier. <<<She goes to school at the Univ. of Tenn. and we live in Illinois so I haven't seen her since the middle of August. She is driving home (long drive--13 hours for me , 9 for her (I haven't figured that one out yet!)>>> I'm thinking it might be a combo of you driving a bit slow and her a bit too fast I can get from the NW burbs of Chicago to Georgia in 12 hours and SC in 13-14 hours. plus depends on the time of day you go - I make my best time by leaving about 10 pm or 5 am <<< I was looking at my journal and I weighed 265 when she left for school and 250 today so perhaps she will notice a change. She is my biggest supporter on my weight loss journey. I probably haven't been below 250 in her lifetime.>>> that's great! you're doign great and how awesome to have a great support team <<<So what is everyone doing for exercise today? >> whew - glad this was wed - I actully did exercise that day - 11 minutes on the bike Every oak tree started out as a couple of nuts who stood their ground. - Anonymous

Guest guest
Laughter Best Medicine. FOOTBALL AND THE BLONDE......Out of all the blonde jokes, this one has to be one of the best!Football FINALLY makes sense..........A guy took his blonde girlfriend to her first football game. They had great seats right behind their team's bench. After the game, he asked her how she liked the experience.'Oh, I really liked it,' she replied, 'especially the tight pants and all the big muscles, but I just couldn't understand why they were killing each other over 25 cents.'Dumbfounded, her date asked, 'What do you mean?''Well, they flipped a coin, one team got it and then for the rest of the game, all they kept screaming was: 'Get the quarterback! Get the quarterback!' I'm like...Helloooooo? It's only 25 cents!!!!
Guest guest
There are US channels there, but I don't think you will get the game. Guest guest
LOL on the importance of knowing if your eyes and mouth are going to be stapled shut....lol..But to answer your question. There are about 5 channels that are in English and I doubt very seriously your going to be able to get the game. BUT to make sure you could always email Nina and ask here if that channel is available in the hospital. I have a feeling your going to haft to get your hubby or someone to record it for ya. Wonder if you could take your computer and watch it? They do have wireless there at the hospital. Just a idea. Best of luck on your surgery.
