Hi all-

This is off topic from our group- but I am wondering if or any of you have

heard any possible negative consequences with elderly people taking NV. From

many of 's previous posts- I see no reason to worry - it sounds like it

helped her Aunt. I am thinking of giving my dad a canister of ours to try. My

dad is age 85- he has heart problems- Cardiomyopathy-- which causes him to feel

very weak often. He is about 30 lbs overweight as well. We recently got some

bad news. My dads was in the hospital a few weeks ago-- his blood counts were

very low- and he was given 3 units of blood. A Bone Marrow aspiration was done

to find out the reason for the low blood counts. The results came back- showing

that my dad has a condition called MDS (Myelo Dysplastic Syndrome)-- and is

almost at the point of having Leukemia. My dad went through radiation

treatments after having a Thyroidectomy for thyroid Cancer 11 years ago. A

history of past radiation treatments can lead to MDS-- which in turn leads to

Leukemia.

My dad has been very weak-- and I am thinking that it " could not hurt " to have

him try the NV- to see what it does for him. Any thoughts?

I have been having a tough time- the worries about my son remain.... We did stop

the NV for a SHORT TIME to see what would occur.. He stopped singing..... The

singing returned when NV resumed. We still do not have the amount of gains that

others did- if anything- this has told us the severity level of our child's

apraxia. We DID manage to obtain more 1:1 pullout in his PK class at a recent

" Progress Review Meeting " -- we now have 2 thirty minute sessions per week. Will

describe what we went through to get it in another post. (the attitude of the

School SLP was concerning).... We still are using the NN fish oils as well.....

plus have 3x per week private SLP. The PK school year ended last week- but

there is an ESY Summer Program that our Son will attend.... we have 3 weeks off

now- then he will go to school for 2 weeks, then have 3 weeks off, and so on

throughout the summer. Our 5 year old " typical " daughter remains her same

" strong willed and smart self " -- she wanted to join about 6 different classes

over the summer- I made her choose two! We are busy with all of the kid's

activities-- but there is no better way to spend our time than for or with our

kids!

Now - there are more worries with my dad- and more to do- because I now, have to

take care of their yard work as well. The old saying " then it rains, it pours "

makes sense to me-- LOL... There is a lot going on at the same time in our

lives! Another relative- my Aunt- was recently discharged from Rehab after a

long hospital stay for Congestive Heart Failure. She still lives in her home

too- and needs help now. She lives further away- and I go over to see her as

often as I can. (she is ok now- just weak). I am an only child- and my cousins

all live out of state- there is no one else to help. It seems like a lot now-

but I take one day at a time- and keep hoping for the best! My friends tell me

that I appear mixed up often-- LOL- I think my mind is overloaded--- (I admit

it)!

Any thoughts about safe use of NV for my dad would be appreciated.

Thanks-
