Guest guest
If you were to rewrite the following to perhaps display how a child with apraxia may talk/not talk, how would you rewrite it? --- The current Pledge of Allegiance reads: " I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. " [1] (The sentence is standardized). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pledge_of_Allegiance --- Would a child tend to stutter? display halting speech? display no speech? or what? Guest guest
well my little guy is 2.5 years old, so there's an age curve here... but even with recent improvement this is my thought. initially he would say nothing. he has a hard time imitating sounds and he knows it so typically he says nothing at all. lately i've been trying my best to make reading enjoyable and with some of the participating he's doing he can 'say' the repetitive words. if not repetitive words, it will be the first or last in a paragraph (if prompted by a pause). so for us, best case scenario (after much much repetition) he would say " I " and maybe attempt " ped " (pledge) and then wrap it up with " aww " (all) at the very end.
