Me too. Inherited from my mother a wonderful ability

to lay awake all night.

I use melatonin and 2 B-complex tablets about an hour

before bed. Valerian

root works pretty well or a combo pill that contains

Valerian, Hops, Wood

betony, Scullcap, Black Cohosh Root, Passion Flower

and Cayenne.

: I laughed hilariously at your post. Thanks for your wonderful

sense of humor.

I tried all the above herbs at one time or another. No dice. To compound

things I'm having a side effect from the Evista, prescribed for osteopenia,

which is sleeplessness. Going to have to switch to Fosamax.

Please DON'T.

I sure there are much better alternatives. Fosamax is a one way

street as it has a half life of at least 10 years!!!!!!

Tibolone is working well for Shirley. No sleep problems..........

I sleep well but only once I have my cocktail well on board. I take 1mg prednisone, 1 plaquenil, 1 ibuprofen, 1/4 davrocet, 30mg capule oxazepam, and a nibble of carisoprodol (soma) The last three can only be taken at night due to sleepiness. I sleep 8-12 hours depending on how I feel. MTX days usually are longer. I have severe fibro so take it to help and it really does. Make sure your bed has a foam topper to cushion your joints. Put foam or pillows between your knees and feet if they hurt and build up your pillow so your neck doesnt cramp. Sleep is so important. Hugs, Deborah

I only really manage about 2-3 hours, hen I wake due to pain and not being able to turn over in bed. I have to get out of bed to come back in on the other side !! My shoulders/arms are the worst at the moment and I find that by cuddling abig soft cushion in my arms it seems to offer some support to my arms and eventually I can drop off to sleep again. If all else fails I prop myself up in bed with my big support pillow and read and read !! My poor husband has gone into the spare room in order to have some unbroken sleep so I can put the light on and read. I have retired from work now thank goodness so this would not be an answer if you have to get up for work !! regards - Lynda Deborah Bargad <dbargad@...> wrote: I sleep well but only once I have my cocktail well on board. i suppose i'd sleep longer (although not necessarily better) if i

wanted to take all those meds but i'd prefer not to and i find i'm

way to groggy the next day when i do take any sleep aids. if i'm

totally desparate (usually sunday nights when i know i have to be up

for work on monday) i might splurge and take something but i try and

keep it to that one night a week. right now i only take mtx and folic

acid for the ra and really hope to keep it that way. as for the foam

topper, amazingly i *love* my bed . . . . it's got a quilted (i

think) top that softens a firm mattress and is unbelieveably

comfortable so i'll stick with that for now. i've tried my friend's

foam mattress pad and yes, it's wonderful, but for the moment i'll

wait till i can afford it.

thanks for your suggestions.
