that's too bad, I've been struggling w/overeating myself. It's almost this

bulimic(no, I don't through up) sensation, meaning this uncontrolable feeling

to binge on fattening carb things. I feel awful afterwards(physically and

psychologically). I'm trying to break this 2-week cycle. I've gained 5lbs!

I'm now 120lbs @ 5' 7. Far from fat, but definately not the direction I want

to go in. I'm increasing my cardio and completly watching what I eat(CR

wise). Any suggestions or words of encouragement?

We attended a wedding yesterday and the food was lavish and decadent. In

spite of trying, when it was there in front of me, I ate and drank way too

much. However the very uncomfortable full feeling DID kick in eventually

(alas too late - after dessert). My stomach actually HURT (CR stomach

staple effect) and I HOPE I will not forget that feeling at the next such

event.

BTW for those following my allergy posts, accidently ingested pistachio nuts

which were served in an unrecognizable form (hors d'oerve of pistachio

covered brie) and had no reaction - thank the stars!

Go to the files. Plenty of tips and encouragement there. In fact that's

what they're there for. Anybody that doesn't know how to access or is

having trouble accessing the files, let me know.

Thank you. I'm now back on track, everyone falls off the CR wagon once in a

while, right? I tried greg's recipe for omega-3 bars, delicious. I highly

recommend them to everyone. They are very filling and satisfy that darn

sweet-tooth of mine.

You said:

When I explained my concerns about weight to my endo, he told me " whatever

>goes in, stays in. . . its not the thyroid making you gain weight, its that

>you're eating too much " !!!!! Nothing could be further from the truth.

Why

>don't these docs know what they are talking about before they open their

mouths!

I know exactly how you feel on this subject. I kept a food diary. I was

definitely eating right...right foods..right amounts. I took my husband

with me so that if I said this is it in front of him.....my Dr would believe

me. I actually thought he might not believe me if my husband was not there

to vouch for me!! What does that say about women/men/doctors/trust?

I now weigh 40 lbs. more than when all this started. But now I feel good

and am walking and working on it....on my own.... Dr just says eat less;move

The weight issue is probably the only facet of this disease that we can TRY

to control without constantly battling a doctor or their office staff. It

seems though that my meds have dipped me into HypO-T and that's where I'm having

trouble.

Also, its hard to even want to try to work out when you feel so wiped & tired

all the time. I am fortunate in that I quit my job in May, so I can

excersize just about any time during the day. If I was still working full time,

I

doubt I'd have the energy, not to mention the motivation to even consider

excersizing.

I tried kicking the wheat, sugar, etc. Very, very tough. Almost everything

we like has wheat and/or sugar. I remember that I had to watch even raw

fruits because of all the sugar they contained, even though it was natural (it

was

at the instruction of a homeopath).

So now I'm doing the wheat & sugar in moderation, MUCH moderation. I do find

that if I have a good quality cereal in the morning with alot of vitamins

(Total), I have more stamina to get thru the day. I've also started taking a

multi-vitamin and stuff called " Green Vibrance " which is a source of fiber,

anti-toxins to clear the blood, etc. Seems to help keep my energy up.

I know alot of folks on these boards spoke about Bugleweed too. I asked an

herbalist at the health food store I go to and was told to be really careful

when doing the herbs, especially the tinctures. They also said to make sure I

go to a really good (licensed ?) herbalist if I decide to go that route. Just

thought I'd pass that info along for what it's worth. They said that too much

could cause other problems.

I empathize with all of you. This is such a rough disease to deal with! And

I'm the only one in my family who has any problem with the thyroid. Never a

history of it, so I'm the first....lucky me!
