Guest guest
Hi , I personally would recommend the Nordic Naturals supplements over SPEAK...I have heard too many stories of bad reactions from the high levels of vitamins...my 2 cents worth. I want my daughter to talk clearly more than anything, but will not compromise her health in the process. We have had great results from the NN supplements. We also give her MB-12 shots and they have REALLY brought about a language explosion! She also is so much more affectionate and the eye contact is tons better, also. They are a Rx, so your doctor needs to write a script. They are specially compounded and we get ours from Lee Silsby in Cleveland, Ohio. Good luck! in OH > > Hi Folks, > > New here and looking for answers, like everyone else I suppose. I have a 21 month old girl who has no real words that we can make out. It discusses a study done on 187 children who were non-verbal. They were given high levels of fish oil supplements and Vitamin E with some amazing results. The average dosage was 280 mg DHA, 695 mg EPA--both given 1-3 times per day and 400 IU Vitamin E given twice a day. I believe this is the same thing as the SPEAK Supplements. > > I want very much to try supplements with my daughter but I'm torn b/w the ProEFA/EPA or SPEAK. Any advice, experience, etc. would be greatly appreciated. I did read a post from someone who said their child had seizures while using SPEAK and someone else mentioned possible regression. > > Well, I must turn of the computer and get some sleep. Guest guest
Hi, I would really recommend the ProEFAs from Nordic Naturals. They have certainly helped my daughter. I had started giving her the fish oils when she was 2 yrs 2 months old. I have read somewhere that the ProEFAs are better for toddlers and ProEPAs work better with young children. In my daughter's case too, ProEPA did not really work for us but ProEFA has. About SPEAK, we have never tried and don't plan to but from what I know, it contains Vitamin E in very high doses (more than 2000 IU) and at those levels, Vitamin E is toxic to the body. You are better off with the ProEFAs and the Vitamin E can be added separately in a lower dose. Hope this helps. Thanks, Nikunj > > Hi Folks, > > New here and looking for answers, like everyone else I suppose. I have a 21 month old girl who has no real words that we can make out. Guest guest
Hi , What are these MB-12 shots? Have not heard about them but would certainly like to know more! Guest guest
We use Complete Omega 3-6-9 by NN which I understand is the commercially available version of Pro-EFA (ie. is available in stores and not just on-line). My son is 2 and we give him a 1000 mg capsule in the morning and one in the evening. We poke the capsule with a pin and just squirt the liquid onto a spoon and feed to him. What dose do you give of the Pro-EFA? I think alot of the success depends on the dose. I am worried 's is too high but he is doing great on it. In just a few months, he now has over 50 words and is putting 2 words together. But I would love to hear what dose others are using. Thanks! > > > > Hi Folks, > > > > New here and looking for answers, like everyone else I suppose. I have a 21 month old girl who has no real words that we can make out. Guest guest
Hi Nikunj, Here is some info: http://www.autism.com/ari/newsletter/194/page3.pdf My DD's DAN! Dr. prescribed the shots for her language delay, and we have seen a LOT of improvement, along with her emotional interactions...she will actually lean in, pull you towards her and give you a kiss now! She couldn't even hardly kiss the air 6-12 months ago. She will be 3 at the end of August. Hope this helps! in OH > > Hi , > > What are these MB-12 shots? Guest guest
I give my son (2) the Dr. Sears Go Fish Brainy Kidz chewables. He has made some progress in 3 weeks, but I don't think he is getting enough. Each chew has 100mg of Omega 3. Is there something that works better and has anyone else used Dr. Sears chews? This fish oil thing is very confusing (ie brand, dosage, etc) I am still trying to figure it all out. Any advice would be helpful. Oh and also, since my son started fish oils the sensory integration disorder has gotten worse. It is so bad I can't hardly take him in public and simple sounds (like the dryer) are setting him off. Do you think there is any connection? Thanks, Gillian
