Guest guest
I am curious as to why we are using this forum for political views that many of us might or do disagree with. i think its off topic and not the place. I thought this was a place for support in regards to our children with apraxia and related speech and language issues. I think who I support for president is my business, I can search in other areas if I like I dont think this is the place! I come here for comfort and wisdom related to helping my son. To read a post putting down or where someone is voicing their opinion or posting a groups opinion..and a group that many of us might disagree with already..isnt beneficial to me as a parent of a special needs child seeking info on how to help him deal with or overcome his disorders. I think it should stick with the topic at hand..learning about speech disorders This post, and others similar, is very disappointing to me as a member of this group Krissy > > I HAVE HEARD FROM MANY MEMBERS OF LDA OF AMERICA THROUGHT THE COUNTRY - THEY > ARE FURIOUS AT THE WAY PALIN HAS USED HER CHILD WITH DOWN SYNDROME AS A > " TROPHY " - PASSING THAT POOR CHILD AROUND FROM ONE TO ANOTHER - PLUS ,MCCAIN > DOESN'T EVEN KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AUTISM AND DOWN - AND WHY DID PALIN > CUT FUNDING FOR DISABILITIES IN HER OWN STATE, BUT NOW IS ALL FOR IT? Guest guest
That is just ridiculous nonsense... one day you will know the real truth! What about Obama in support of partial birth abortions, where the baby is delivered feet first and the head is left inside the mother, something is injected iniside baby's base of skull to kill it and then cut open so the brain is sucked out. There is never a purpose for this to protect the mother's live, they could just deliver the child alive without harming the mother. And why would he vote against support for the babies who were born alive during an abortion proceedure. A nurse in Illinois was fired because she made it known that babies were being found dead in a closet wrapped in soiled blankets, this was in a hospital. All the senators voted for protection for this babies born alive except Obama.. he was the only one out of nearly 90 others to vote against protection for these littles ones. The media wants change so so bad they close their eyes to the really important matters, that's what I think. The people aren't asking the right questions b/c they don't want to know the truth. Guest guest
Wow, well this one felt really off topic, but since I actually worked on this issue years ago, I feel a need to add a clarifying comment. I actually worked for a year against the ban on D and X abortions (partial birth they are called) I represented women with severe fetal anomalies, the vast majority where in fact incompatible with survival - in simpler terms, their babies were going to die once they were born, and going on with the pregnancy was threatening their health in most of the cases as well. The women ranged from the extremely religious (one fundamentalist too) to not religious at all, but they had all weeped many tears over their situation, and many had funerals afterwards because they did in fact feel that they lost a child. From what I learned, this procedure was usually used in cases like these, quite serious and sad cases. The brouhaha this procedure has generated has nothing to do with what actually happens when it is used. It is just a proxy for the broader abortion battle, and it's a shame that good medicine is being held hostage to it. Over all though, given how strongly emotions are running in this election we may want to stay away from electoral politics on the site. Guest guest
on the health issue I have found that employers will make it possible to get our children insured without insuring ourselves. This has actually worked against us. Josh will always be on a waiver because of his diabetes, autism, apraxia and our company Archer s Midland has already made it possible to purchase insurance for kids only. We will only be reimbursed half of insurance costs because we are also on the policy. Our insurance is 300 a month. We are lucky they pay for half of it. I hope those of ou who are eligible are on the HIPP program which reimburses us for our insurance costs. If a separate policy is not offered for the kids they will pay for all of the costs usually. **************Plan your next getaway with AOL Travel. Check out Today's Hot 5 Travel Deals! Guest guest
You know-- I am hesitating to say this, and yet my spirit is crying out and I must speak up Jen-- you say that you don't like reading " stuff like that, it makes me feel bad for everyone, mom, baby etc " Well, I wish that MORE AMERICANS would feel bad for this situation-- and make the Sanctity of Life a priority in their lives-- rather than the stupid 99% of those Americans polled that said that THEIR FINANCES were the most important issue How extremely sad is it that the American people care MORE about the almighty dollar in their pockets than they do the protection of an unborn child!? Shame on all who think that way-- truly-- I pray that more people will start feeling badly about the abortion and protection of life issue-- so we can take this country back to the cornerstone of MORALITY to be what it should be-- LIFE, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness! (without that LIFE, how can one attain liberty or happiness?????) Our morals shouldn't lay in our pockets and in money--but in LIFE ok-- shutting up now. I'm obviously not as gracious as McCain, because I will NEVER back a President such as Obama. Pray for him-- yes-- but back him or support him, no Becky In a message dated 11/4/2008 12:33:28 P.M.
