We have been seeing a classical Homeopath for our son who has severe

apraxia and Autism since March 2008. Homeopathy in my opinion has

got him talking when DAN (B12 shots, DMG, TMG, Fish oils, etc) didn't

work. He went from 1 word to probably over 40 or 50 words in a

matter of months.

her about? I've read " The Impossible Cure " in regards to treating

autism with homeopathy, and there are some suggestions in there, but

I figured I'd ask to see what has worked in your experiences, since

we're more focused on the apraxia than the PDD-NOS. Oh, he's also

been on the NN Complete Omega 3,6,9 for the past 2 weeks, and he's

definitely been saying more words/sounds, so many thanks to everyone

in the group for sharing the wonderful benefits of these oils. :-)

Thanks so much!

Hi ,

My daughter's pediatrician is a homeopathically and biomedically trained

doctor.  She has used incremental homeopathic remedies to help with

detoxification and her skin issues, but not anything major like the Huston

Homeopathy group which has remedies that clear the different waves of attacks on

the immune/neurological system and the whole body really.  I am assuming this is

what you're planning, but all doctors have their own methods and approaches to

healing so it may be a combination of things as well.

So far I've not rushed to do  a pure homeopathic approach with her because I

want to understand more about it and identify the problems more so that if I do

use homeopathic remedies they will be better targeted. The current doctor who

has as I said homeopathic/biomedical and regualr pediatric training has not

proposed pure homeopathic approach, she is following a more DAN type treatment

with testing--blood fecal--urine and as we identify problems we address them

with the diet and the supplements as well as the homeopathic support which is

just that---support at this point to help get read of toxins etc.

So far the results have been amazing, she's improving everyday and in just about

8 months has gone from less than 25 words to over 400 and learning more every

day and putting together 3-4 word sentences. She now has a language where as

before with speech therapy she could only produce the sounds and words in

therapy.  Word retrieval, consistency, longer words and sentences are still a

problem, but a year ago i was thinking I'd never hear her say a word like " book "

and she was dismissed from therapy by 3 local apraxia experts due to

noncompliance.

So the progress is definitely there, everything we've been doing has helped

especially the B12 shots and Omegas + E but really it's everything--the diet,

the supplements, the more intense/frequent PROMPT therapy now that she is more

willing to follow directions and can engage more--preschool and being with other

kids, her attention, eye contact, social skills have all improved---what can I

say---I wish this and more for every child affected neurologically and I firmly

believe that the gut / brain / immune system connection will revolutionize

medicine when they figure out how to make huge profits from it.  Until then,

it's up to us parents and the few enlightened doctors who try various approaches

to help our kids.

I have used homeopathy myself and do believe in it even if I don't fully

understand it, but it did work for a problem that would have required surgery

otherwise and seemed to be very physical but also with the emotional and

hormonal baggage such things normally come with.   I now have other problems

that are systemic and regular Western medicine cannot fully address, so I may

turn to homeopathy again when I have the time to look into it since I'm now

focusing on my daughter's needs so mine are sort of on hold.  SO I definitely

think there's something to it, but as with everything, you have to identify the

exact problems and then the remedy has to be catered to the specific needs, and

that means you need a very good, very experienced practitioner.

The Huston Sequential Homeopathy Group has a list where you can learn more and

this way you can see how others in your situation have been helped by

homeopathy, in general I hear a lot of positive things from that list and it is

very tempting to try it--I'll very likely gradually get there as I understand

more about the healing process and my daughter's condition.

Good luck to you!

Elena

Hello,

I have used Homeopathy with my son who is now 3. When we started he was just

past the age of 2. It has done wonders for us along with diet change,

allergy removal, yeast detox, metal detox, and viral detox and plenty of

therapy. I highly suggest it.

Thanks,

Colleen

Hi Elena, can you tell the who is you of your homeopathy and

biomedical pediatrician. Sounds interesting that approach. I go to 2

DAN doctors, one nutritionist with homeopathic knowledge , plus a

classic homeopath, that is not as knowledgeable with the complicate

autism issues. My has speech apraxia and I know two parents that went

to Houston Homeopathy and their children are now speaking fluently in

long phrases. I am also leaning toward this approach, but I ma

concern with sequential homeopathy, it uses too many remedies at the

same time. I have been using the omegas and E vitamin for long time,we

have improvements, but not as much as I wish to consider my son verbal.

Colleen,

How do you do a yeast detox?  My granddaughter (apraxia and severe developmental

delays)  has an extremely strong yeast smell when she perspires.

Thanks.

We too see a homeopath and he has been great for general childhood things

(teething and colds etc) but recently he gave us something for her overall

development(speech in particular) and I have just started to give it to her so I

will have to post later on with the results.  It is called if I am not mistaken

" Bar. Carb " or Baryta Carboncium.  The dosage is the secret...and he told me to

administer 1 every other day for three days.

We start this weekend.

Fingers crossed!

Hi Krissy,

I was the one who wrote the original ques about homeopathy, so I figured I'd

respond since we just saw the homeopathic dr on Monday.  :-)   You can get

homeopathic remedies from places like Whole Foods, Wegman's, certain health food

stores, etc.  But what I would suggest is to do it under the care of a

homeopathic dr, since they'll ask you tons of questions and it will be

prescribed specificially according to your child (it's not really a prescription

per se, but they will tell you what kind of remedy to use).  For example, our dr

concluded that 's remedy would be Tuberculinum, but that was after a 1

1/2 hour interview so that she could really understand 's

health background and personality, plus a 30 minute physical exam.  So the

specific remedy will be based on your child's health issues, temperament,

demeanor, etc.  (it's not like an allopathic drug where one specific medicine is

given for one certain type of ailment).

Anyway, hope that helps.  I'll admit, I was skeptical of homeopathy before I

had success with it for my own heart problems, so I'm optimistic it'll help with

our son's apraxia.  (and based on so many great emails from other parents in the

group, it sounds like homeopathy can work wonders for speech!)  But I'd

definitely suggest doing it under the care of someone who knows homeopathy well

so they can really figure out the right remedy that fits your child the best.

And if your little one doesn't respond to the first type of remedy, the dr might

even change it to a diff one, all depending on the child's response.  Good

luck!!!  :-)

thanks , wow just reading that a dr spent that much time with your

child..compared to mainstream drs only looking at your kid for less

than 15 minutes..is phenomenal! I wonder what is near me and what I

can do. I will have to check into it. thank you!
