Your calorie intake is really on the low side for a male. Most of the group's males are taking in about 1800 cal a day; some taking in more than that. Why not up your calories and slow down the weight loss? You can always cut back later. You're off to a good start and needn't rush things. Although Walford agrees that most people lose a lot in the beginning (I lost 15 pounds in the first 3 months and then slowed down), 14 pounds in one month is really extreme! Up your calories! Walford suggests starting out at 1800 to 2000 calories for example. Don't rush it or you'll defeat the purpose. --- In @y..., " Todd R. I think I had all the symptoms you have. I almost died from mine. Saline and silicone implants can cause those who are the most sensitive to react quickly and dramatically. You may need to see a shrink, but just to deal with all the problems caused by your implants. Where are you? Maybe we have a really good doctor (who removes them properly) near you? I got my implants 8 months ago and got sick pretty quickly, and had them removed about two months ago. My symptoms - bone pain, joint pain, neurological problems (dizziness, headache), fatigue, numbness in the fingers and toes, muscle pain, swollen lymph nodes, throbbing veins in my hands, foot pain, leg pain, high blood pressure. I also have fallen twice in the last couple of months, and I didn't realize this was related however one of the sites that lists symptoms of implant sickness mentioned falling. Where do you live? From what you're describing, I have no doubt your implants are at the core of your problems. . . If there's one thing implanted women have in common is a multitude of health problems and " normal " test results! We can help you find a surgeon . . . You may be able to find one near you . . . BUT the thing you need to be sure of is that your doctor will remove your implants " en bloc " . . . That is, remove the capsules with the implants still inside so, assuming the contents of your implants are contaminated, nothing will spill into your chest cavity . . . AND that he/she will use drains. . . Drains may not be necessary for everyone - but it's a simple procedure that may save you further pain and surgery. In this group, we've found that many of our answers are found in what the medical community considers alternative! . . . As a nurse, this may take a leap of faith for you. BUT . . . if you'll take a step at a time, once you begin to see progress, you'll find it easier to try more. The good news is that we've seen hundreds, if not thousands, of women get much, much better after getting their implants properly removed and detoxing. The odds are very, very good that you will too! You've made my heart smile!), I am so sorry to hear of the suffering you have gone through over the past year. It all sounds so familiar, unfortunately. You are right, this is NOT in your head. What you are suffering from is a very real and far too common reaction to your implants that many, many other women have experienced as well. It is tragic that your life can come to such a screeching halt once the immune system suffers and the symptoms start to manifest one after another. And yet, the tests come out normal! It is so crazy....yet it happens to so many. That was why we formed this group. We needed help, and together we have been able to help each other, because, as you have found, the medical community seems clueless to our plight. The lack of specific testing to prove implants are making you sick is what makes it so hard to determine beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are the cause. There is no single test that will confirm that for you, and that is why there is such a controversy over this issue. What almost all of us have had to do is make the leap of faith that what we know in our heart is true...that we were healthy before implants, and got sick after them, and we have all been struggling with too many of the common complaints for it to be coincidence and not related to our implants. And what's more, is that so many, many women get better once the implants are removed properly. We can say with a high degree of certainty that some women react poorly to implants and their hope of recovery lies in proper removal. I live in West Michigan and I cannot find a good doctor in our area or even in our state for that matter. None of them advertise explant surgeries. If they don't list it they must not specialize in it. I want someone who is the best. I did however, find the website for Dr. Lu-Feng in Clevland, Ohio. Dr. Feng absolutely believes that implants make some women sick, and she will make sure to perform the en bloc procedure, and remove the capsule completely. En bloc means that the implant is removed whole so that the contents do not spill into the body, and she removes the capsule as well because it absorbs chemicals from the implants, and if it's left in your body, it can continue to make you sick. My husband drove me there, it was about a 6 hour drive from New Jersey. Dr. Feng puts drains in, which do not hurt, but are a little bulky, and they have to be changed. It kept me from swelling and I had minimal pain. I stayed in a hotel about 2 miles from Dr. Feng's office, and I stayed until the drains were ready to be removed. Whether or not they admit it, all plastic surgeons must do explants because implants need to be replaced on a regular basis! . . . Of course, if you tell them you don't want them replaced, suddenly they don't want you as a patient! . .. . Is there something strange about this, or not? . . .. Could it have to do with reporting? The real issue is if they will remove your implants " en bloc " . . . That's where our list of recommended surgeons comes in. Dr. Feng is reputed to be an excellent surgeon. Sorry if my posts seem structured to have a speaking program for my laptop. It does my typing for me. It's easier for my thoughts to flow, if I'm actually doing the typing. I have not been able to type, much more than a couple sentences in more than six months. Anyway, back to my doctor's appointment. I haven't seen him in a couple of months, because I have been seeing specialists. I had a whole new list of symptoms to give him. Then I explained to him, and I felt it was from my implants. I also brought along with me some printouts from some web pages to show him. He read to them quickly including the list of symptoms than he apologized for not catching it sooner. His excuse was that he is just a medical doctor that focuses on family issues and hasn't been up to speed with plastic surgery issues. He did also stay that after browsing through my information that it does make logical sense. That all this is from my body rejecting a foreign object. He did say that these things are so safe after all, are they? Now, he said he is probably 99% sure that all my symptoms for the past year have been because of my implants. So, to give you guys an idea and I'm sure you already know how I feel. Here is a list of my symptoms. Chronic fatigue, pain and weakness in most my muscles stiff joints, especially in the morning. Both my muscles and my joints increase with pain. When temperature drops. Have a hard time sleeping, mostly due to the pain, and also the dry eyes. I get numbness and tingling in my hands and feet and on most days I cannot climb a flight of stairs. His been harder and harder for me to concentrate on things and frequently forgetting conversations, And what date it is. I have even started getting unusual rash is on my face and neck, chest and arms. In my interstitial cystitis has increased to the point where I need to wear incontinence pads. Every day. I used to be on medications for my IC but I quit taking those in every other medications, doctors have put me on after I had a scary reaction to neurotin. I had difficulty swallowing anything while I was on it. In one years time. I have watched my 32 year old body deteriorate into one of an 80 year old woman. So now you can see why I'm excited to have my explant surgery scheduled. Looking at how I feel today makes my reasons for getting the implants seemed very stupid. Husband and I sat the kids down last night and told him that I would be having surgery. My two teenage stepsons were very understanding and concerned. In fact, I was impressed when my 18 year old stepson, offered to give us money toward the cost of the surgery. My girls, 13,10, and nine were only told I was going in for tests. We didn't want them to worry. I'm sure he won't know girls tend to "freak out". We will let them know the truth in time. What a sweetheart. Having a supportive husband and family is a huge part of this entire process. You should feel blessed to have such a loving family. I personally don't know what I would have done without mine, especially my husband. Anyhow, it is nice to hear that your doctor was willing to read the articles and admit that your problems are probably related to your implants. It is a stressfil time and surgery is never any fun but I can tell you it was the best decision I have ever made. I have been one of the lucky ones, only 2 1/2 months post op and feeling 100% better. Many of your symptoms that you listed I had as well. At 29 yrs. old I felt like I was 80. I just wanted to tell you that I had severe IC and took a natural product called CystaQ that made it about 80% better. Since my explant I have no IC at all. : ) You can look forward to getting your 32 year old body to act its age again. I did! I was extremely ill for many years. I had my explant 6 months ago and I now have my own dance business teaching dance at least twice a week. (I'm starting slowly) Next month I'll have 4 classes a week and I am ready for it. Now that I am back to my smaller (and more " manageable " size) all I seem to see as attractive these days are women with size-appropriate breasts. Like on Desperate Housewives for example...the small women look so much better than the ones with these boobs that don't match their physiques. I can't help but wonder if that is just a trend (less is more) or if it was always that way but I didn't choose to see anything other than my own perceived shortcomings. I feel so much lighter, and so much thinner! even though I am quite overweight. I just loved my " new " look. I asked my husband " don't they FEEL so much nicer? " and he said he feels no difference...(I really had a very good, natural implant and never got hard) but to him there is no difference...so it really is all in my own perception. When my bladder is flared, I take 3 capsules twice a day and it greatly relieves the burning. Do you have candida? It seems my bladder only flares now when I have yeasties. Guest guest Posted January 8, 2006 Report Share Posted January 8, 2006 Kenda, I haven't tried Aloe for IC pain. I havent tried anything. I was on Elimron and Detrol LA for over two years. When my muscle pain and weakness started the doctors started trying this drug and that drug to see if they would work. I started having side effects so I decided to quit all medications. I did this because I didn't want any side effects from any drugs getting in the way of a diagnosis of my problem. Now that I feel I know the cause of my problems I am ready to deal with my symptoms again. I may not go back to my two IC medications after my explant, I hope my IC leaves me along with the implants. I will try the Aloe after my explant. Thank you. I don't think my IC is caused by yeist, because I have gone through detox and candida cleanses and I hardly eat bread or pastas. My IC pain flares up with caffiene,so I have cut that out of my diet. The incontenance is always a part of my day, no matter what I eat. It has increased greatly since I stopped taking the Detrol LA. I was actually in the study group at UCSD that tested Elmiron before it was FDA approved. I tried the injectable form which wasn't approved for some reason. It worked nothing short of a miracle for me. The oral form caused a hiatal (sp?) hernia for me that went away a short time after stopping the medication. I never had incontinence problems, is that a typical symptom of IC? Have you ever taken Diflucan or Sporanox for yeast? I eat a very clean diet and still am plagued with vaginal yeast from hormonal changes. What's up with that!? I wonder if the silicone somehow damages our kidneys? Or what the connection is between autoimmune diseases and weak kidneys?
