hi, i searched for this but couldn't find it. there is a video i've seen before

that shows the tongue placement for different sounds. does anybody know what

i'm talking about and where i can find it? my son might benefit from seeing

that. i think it was like an illustrated video of the mouth and what happens

when pronouncing certain sounds.

my son is 5 1/2 and has trouble with words that have l as the second consonant,

such as blue, black, slide, clown, etc. he doesn't pronounce the l. also for

th sounds he uses the f sound almost all the time.

thx

lisa m.

you can email me at LiisaAnn@... or post here, thank you

Hi,

I haven't seen the video you want, but my son has extreme difficulty with the L

sound

and that's one we've worked on forever that we're starting to get.  When

practising the L sound

my son (who just was able to stick his tongue out last year) will stick his

tongue out completely to

try and make the sound.  Blue comes out like baallooo. When he sticks his tongue

out so far now,

all we have to say is " little L " and he sticks it back in.

This is after tons of time spent trying to get his tongue moving at all.  We

used alot of edible treats

to get him to stick out his tongue.  ie.  hold an m & m just out of reach of his

mouth and he tries to

lick it.

so, try working on getting him to stick out his tongue.  Mirrors work great and

food works the best!

I used to have to hold his head back because my son used to try and cheat to get

the treat!

Once you get the tongue to come out, just model the words for him in a very

animated way.  Mine

still doesn't have the proper placement for L, but with verbal prompting we're

getting there.

hth
