Guest guest
Wow. We have a lot in common. Your RA manifests itself in EXACTLY the same way mine does. I have never discussed shortness of breath with anyone, but I was experiencing that when I had my most recent flare and had no idea it was related. I'm also a big fan of alt. medicine and am pregnant (taking prenisone and sulfasalazine). As for being 40, don't be so sure your chances are so slim! I'm 38 and have gotten pregnant TWICE in the last two months! Miscarried the first time and am already pregnant again. As for grieving, I think you can accept that you have RA and deal with it without giving up on your old active life completely and terminally. I understand being discouraged, but try to maintain some optimism that you can resume that active life at some point when things are better under control. What alternative things have you tried? > > Hi All > This is my first time with a support grp. I was Dx'd with Ra 2 > years ago. I felt my body had a mind of its own. Guest guest
I noticed from your other email that you live in PSL, FL. I take tai chi in Jensen Beach/Stuart and have found it very helpful in managing my RA along with enbrel. I go to the Chen school and found it by searching "tai chi" in the yellowpages on line. Many in my class are form PSL. I have trouble for one reason or another doing most forms of exercise but RA does not limit tai chi for me at all.pr_jem <pr_jem@...> wrote: Hi AllThis is my first time with a support grp. RA has given my Interstitial lung disease as well as nodules in my elbows. When my inflammation is high, I suffer from shortness of breath. I have flares up about once or twice a week and I live in some kind of constant pain. I believe in both conventional medicine as well as alternative medicine. I am no longer using conventional medicine as I am hoping to conceive. I am over forty and realize my chances are slim, none-the less I would like to try. Alternative medicine has helped me better than conventional. In additions, telling the RA Dr that I am trying to conceive also keeps the doctor from injecting me or prescribing cortisone. The RA has really I can exercise more and feel better. I currently am not exercising which only depresses me more. I am having a difficult time letting go of my old active self. I know i must grieve my old active life and accept once and for all that i have Ra and I must deal with it.. I said I would be more proactive this year with RA and attempt to manage the pain and learn more about it. This grp is my first step. It is very difficult for me, but I realize that I have to start my acceptance process.

Guest guest
Hi, My name is Susie. I'm from Indianapolis. I've noticed the same thing with my RA. It's frustrating isn't it? You never know where you're going to ache. I had been diagnosed with emphysema and that may very well be my problem with the shortness of breath. (I started smoking when I was 15 and quit smoking September 2001 at the age of 45) But there are still times when I have to wonder if my RA is a contributing factor.) But I just wanted to let you know I've experienced the same things and it's just enough to drive you a bit batty. But just hang in there. I also have times when I feel like I have a boatload of energy and I don't ache at all Take care and God Bless Susie" R. Peek" <wendyhollander@...> wrote: Wow. We have a lot in common. Guest guest
Hi Thank u so much for the words of encouragement. I have been taking Flexcin for almost a year now and it has helped me immensely. I was like a 90 yr old lady . I could not even brush my teeth or handle a glass of water. I saw the results after 6 weeks. I called into a radio show called Duke and the doctor and I asked her and she recommended this. I stopped taking the prednisone. I just started taking a new antiflamatory. It is called zyflamend by new chapter. I find that if i have certain foods like soda, pork and other stuff i have immediate flares ups. u know the feverish reddish painful spots show up in my wrist and other parts... I also take a vitamin called Daily extra by vitologic. I was dx'd with endometrosis back 17 yrs ago so i am not sure if i can concieve. Looking for drs in PSL to deal with that as well. Congrads on your pregnancy. God Bless > > Wow. We have a lot in common. Your RA manifests itself in EXACTLY the same way mine > does.
