It's probably a good idea to track your food intake periodically, for the calories as well as nutrition. But like Fran. said, if you focus on the basics -- nutritionally-rich calories, and fewer of them -- you're on the right track. Watch out for mindless snacking -- those in-between-meal bites can really add up. If I'm not careful I find myself finishing my kid's plates for them (scripts from childhood -- The Clean Plate Club). So while my official diet is sensible CR stuff, I'm eating spare peanutbutter n jelly sandwich parts and such in between. In the restaurant biz, that's called " garbage mouthing. " On this list it's called Not CR. ;-) Sears says to think of food as a drug and treat it with due respect. That helps me stop before ingesting random foodstuffs. Welcome I have been on Xolair for exactly 2 years now. I have lost 35 pounds in the past year since a diagnosis of diabetes and high cholesterol. This is the first time I have heard of xolair and weight gain. Interesting! Thanks for sharing Doug Group founder/co-moderator
Guest guest
The way the Xolair molecule is set up, it can NOT cause you to gain weight, It's only purpose id to attach to the IgE and render it useless to absorb the allergen. I wo7uld check with your family physician or internal medicine physician. They need to run some lab work to make sure you have not developed diabetes, a thyroid problem, a hormone abnormality etc.. The weight gain and those things coincidentally happened when you started Xolair, I am sure of it. Guest guest
At one point in time I was on pred and losing weight but I was going through a hypo-manic episode, not sleepig and exercising like a nut. Now I am decidedly not hypo-manic and I look at food at it attaches itself to me in the form of flab. Guest guest
Hi: I've been on Xolair for 7 months. I have gained weight but, I'm not sure it's the medicaton, also hot flashes are my middle name and that I can't blame on the medication either for I've had them for years. Please keep us informed. Thanks, Kathy smithz93 <eksmith@...> wrote: Hi, i'm new to board but have been taking xolair for a year. i was not previously on predisone. i noticed a lot of people lost weight coming off the predisone. i eat very healthy and work out almost daily and drinks tons of water daily and those habits haven't changed in the past year. i gained 15 lbs the first month after the shot and another 10lbs the second month. i also get the hot flashes and sinus headaches almost daily. i was wondering if anyone else had these symptons and if/when the symptons went away if they quit taking the xolair?
