Guest guest
Hi All, From personal experience, this bread / food is delicious and eliminates the need for ground flax / linseed. Cost in Aus $ 2.50 or US $ 1.25 per load. We now toast, cut slices into 4 sections & use it to replace our stone ground multi grain crackers with cheese or fresh ground peanut paste. Delicious just by itself!!!!! This food / bread has a very low GI of 36. If you can find some in your local shop, give a loaf a try. You will not be disappointed. Phytoestrogens occur naturally in some plant foods and are chemically similar to oestrogens which humans produce naturally. How to include phytoestrogens in the diet? Phytoestrogens are found mainly in grains and legumes and the main types useful for humans are known as isoflavones and lignans. Food sources of Phytoestrogens Some soy products are rich in isoflavones. Linseeds contain high levels of lignans. Few products containing phytoestrogens are used widely in Australia. Products such as soy beans, soy beverages, tofu (bean curd), miso and tempeh have not traditionally been a part of the Australian diet. The phytoestrogen level in soy beverages also varies according to processing method and the variety of soy bean used. BURGEN® SOY-LINTM contains kibbled soy, linseed and kibbled wheat and is a welcome addition to the products containing phytoestrogens. BURGEN® SOY-LINTM contains 137mg/100g of total phytoestrogens, which is 109mg per serve (2 slices). BURGEN® SOY-LINTM is a source of alpha-linolenic acid which is an omega 3 fatty acid. BURGEN® SOY-LINTM is a good source of dietary fibre. BURGEN® SOY-LINTM has recently been shown to have a low glycaemic index of 36. New Australian Research in Menopausal Women As women reach the menopause, their ovaries produce less estrogen. This causes many to have unpleasant symptoms such as hot flushes. Low estrogen levels also cause reduced mineral content in bones leading to osteoporosis. This causes the bones to become brittle so they break easily. A team from Monash University and the Royal Women's Hospital in Melbourne has been studying the effect of giving menopausal women a bread containing soy and linseed. Their study found that bone mineral content improved. Linseed and wheat in the bread was found to decrease the number of hot flushes experienced. ======================== Good Health & Long Life, Greg , http://www.ozemail.com.au/~gowatson gowatson@...
