S.P.A.R.K. (Supportive Parents Advocating for Our Kids) is a Denville-based, non-profit parent-run organization. The mission is to support the recreational and social needs of children with special needs. S.P.A.R.K. parent members meet monthly to share knowledge, resources and emotional support. See the attached flyer for details about the programs. Margaret Hefferle SPAN/START Project Parent Support Group Specialist (973) 971-5313 SPRING 2008 ACTIVITIES FOR CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS (although these programs are designed for children with needs, any child is welcome to participate) Story & Craft Time at the Denville Library Meets the first Tuesday of each month for chapter book aged kids from 7:00-7:45pm Time/date for picture book age kids not yet set Please register at the Denville Library. Train Ride & Pizza On Saturday, April 19, 2008: Meet Ruth at the Denville train station around noon, and take a ride to Madison. Enjoy pizza and a walk in town. Appropriate for all ages (accompanied by parent) RSVP to ruth.sen@... and she'll give you specific times. Shopping & Chef Shop at a local grocery store one day after school; the next day meet at Lakeview School for themed food preparation and tasting. Appropriate for age 6 and above. Mentors available to assist. Session 1: March 3 & 4th Session 2: March 31 & April 1st Session 3: May 5 & 6th Come to any one or all sessions. Cost is $7.00 per session to cover cost of food. First day of each session: meet at 3:30pm at the Denville A & P. Second day: meet at Lakeview School art room at 3:30 for food preparation. RSVP to clairechaunu@... Arts & Crafts Fun An art class that uses a different medium and theme each session. Meets once per month at Lakeview School. Appropriate for age 5 and above. Mentors available to assist participants. Meets the second Friday of March, April, and May in Lakeview art room at 3:30 pm (snack provided) Cost is $5.00 per session to cover cost of supplies. RSVP to ann at m1monroe@... Painting Plaster & Ceramics Join Krystn the third Wednesday of March and May (3/19, 5/21) to paint decorative items. Ages 6 and above welcome. Cost is $5.00/session. RSVP to Krystn at krystn1940@... " Tween & Teen Bowling " For ages 11 and up Meets at Rockaway Lanes the third Friday of March, April, and May. This is a " drop-off " life-skills program where bowlers request their own shoes, pay, etc. Cost: $10.00/session, which includes bowling, shoes, pizza, drink RSVP to ann at m1monroe@...
