Guest guest Posted March 10, 2008 Report Share Posted March 10, 2008 Apraxia Network Meeting notes march 5th 2008 The meeting was opened at 7:15pm by Jeanne Buesser, president. She introduced Janet Krebs as a noted speech pathologist. Ms. Krebs distributed a detailed outline of items she would cover including, Memory, Attention, Processing and Sequencing, and how inability in any of these functions would limit effective speech and reading. Her slide presentation included such problems as dyslexia and apraxia, methods of teaching children to speak clearly and read meaningfully were discussed. Ms. Krebs Stressed that combining both phonics and whole language is essential to helping remediate those students whose reading skills are limited. Repetition, done slowly, is often necessary. She recommended several computer " games " for those children who suffer from audio processing disorders. The meeting ended at 8:40pm as Jeanne thanked Ms. Krebs for her presentation and her willingness to share her email address for answers to any additional questions from the audience.
