Guest guest
does have some word find issues associated with his language issues which is why I jumped to that conclusion. He has more issues related to language these days than apraxia. My husband used to refer to it as " mental apraxia " because it seemed like it was in the pathway from the ears to the brain instead of from the brain to the mouth. It's hard to say if it's the apraxia or the language stuff with him sometimes. He doesn't do obvious groping anymore which makes it harder to tell which is which. Although you might be right that it's the apraxia getting worse without the Vit E. Usually when he has a word find issue he talks around the word by either describing it or by finding a synonym. He isn't doing that now. It's also my hunch that he still thinks in pictures, not words. The part of his most recent IQ test that he scored in the lowest % on was the part that involves thought processes with language (or so the psychologist explained to me.) He tested in the superior range on memory, sequencing and pattern tasks. The only sequencing he has issues with is syllables in spoken language (or maybe also in receptive language.) He can sequence pictures, numbers and letters very well for his age. I know that that is something some apraxic kids struggle with. As for the pills, I don't know why he's suddenly resistant. It almost seems like he is tired of swallowing all the pills or something. His brother is finally mostly cooperating and he used to be the one who hated to take his pills. His sister takes them, sucks out the liquid then chews the capsule and begs for more! I take my pills in the evening (they do in the am) and he sees me do that too. He started resisting after we got the flu. And now his allergies are acting up. I'm thinking it might hurt him to swallow because of post-nasal drip? I'm going to try talking and reasoning with him on this...after he takes the pills the next few days and isn't tuning me out! Guest guest
I just started. My older son didn't seem to have a change at all when we added gamma. I haven't added any for my daughter yet. Right now I'm using Nature Made brand. It was the least expensive I found at the time. I had been using another brand before with my son. Switching didn't change a thing. We're almost out and I am about to start another brand that was MUCH less expensive. I'll see how that works. Guest guest
I'm most concerned about finding a high-gamma E that the kids will actually take. We are using Vitamine Shoppe high gamma E right now, but it has a weird texture that I think the kids may not like. If you get it on your hands while opening the gelcap, it leaves a lingering residue that coats your skin and is hard to wash off. If you have ever gotten lecithin on your skin, it is similar to that. Does anyone use a good high gamma E that they have seen good results with, and does not have a bad taste or consistency? Please let the rest of us know your source. Thanks. -jimk Grassia wrote: > > I just started. My older son didn't seem to have a change at all when we > added gamma. I haven't added any for my daughter yet.
